This is a good poem. The rhyme scheme reminds me of a rap more than a poem. The ideas are clearly presented. However, I do wish the font size was a bit larger. There are many older writers on this site, and with larger font they are more apt to engage with your text. The visual fits, but the words written on it are distractive. I used Getty photos in a book, and they remove the words when the photo 's license is purchased. Overall, a good poem.

This is definitely a poem that tugs at the heart. There is some of this that I can totally relate to, and some I can just empathize with. But, if this is your life in this poem, don't despair. Like disasters that come out of nowhere, it is never too late for life to turn around for you. It might take some leaps of faith, and many years, but it surely can turn on a dime. Hang in there! Great poem!

Thank you.

It's nice to see you are still getting this out of you, I hope you are keeping all your poems, they will be good to read in years to come. This one, like your others would be perfect as a rap poem, it flows that way, and even though it's dark and emotional, it's a great one to read ... aloud. Well done. Sandra xx

This is a sad poem and one a lot of people can relate to, unfortunately. The words are full of emotion and this poem was written from the heart. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend.

Thank you. It's my life story.

Another very dark one, sounding very hopeless and dispirited. Last one you seemed more positive. Hang in there and work steadily day by day towards some small goals. You are strong. Push on. Sending hugs.

I like this poem a lot. You got talent. I like this stanza the best
My soul filled with hurt so it's hard not to dwell.
Broken dreamer believing in a wishing well.
I hope the Lord can forgive me for all my sins.
I'm just trying to survive in the trenches like Daniel in the lion den.

I'm glad you think so.

If you keep composing songs of the streets that is where you'll remain dear girl, you have an opportunity to change your situation, but I think you still like being down there. I'm not sure why.start giving thanks for what you have, not what you don't have. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." You have the power to change your situation...if you want to. Blessings Roy

My heart is and soul will always be in the streets. My goal is to be the poetic voice of the streets and help them know they aren't alone and they are not the only ones struggling with addiction, injustice, anixety depression, racism, loneliness and etc. Check out my live poetry slam

Dear Charity you can do more for them of the streets, hope is only in God, how are they going to know, if you stay there. Jesus went to the down and outers, but He showed them they could be more. you show them there isn't much hope. If you believe, you are a queen.

Yes but in order for the streets to listen you have to be able to relate and tell a story a real story. I know what is like and I'm struggling out the trenches myself but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Many are being touch my poetry believe me based on my reviews, in person comments and with my poetry slams.

Bless you Charity I'm on your side

Hi Charity. Thanks for posting that YouTube link to your poetry slam performance. I was wowed and then forwarded the link to a bunch of fellow poets on-site! From the first time I read you, I could feel the honesty etching onto the page--this comes through even stronger when you recite your own work. You don't frame yourself as a victim...you frame yourself as a determined survivor who grows weary. This is life and it is the truth! With every poem, with every step forward, you inspire me.
