I have so much progress in the world in my lifetime. When I was growing up we didn't have a phone in our home and only an old black and white TV which we thought was wonderful, then we had colour TV and screens got bigger and bigger. With computers and phones and world wide web, we have lots of information at our fingertips, we have come a long way. Your poem is poignant and magical, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Yes, I agree there is much magic to be found in television. As the Speaker points out, TV takes us places we could otherwise only imagine and it informs us of world events quickly. I really think your final stanza could stand alone. Rod

I like this perspective in this well versed poem. Sure there is a lot of garbage on the tube, but there is also a wealth of history and knowledge if you search for the channels that bring you the world.

You are right, TV is an essential part of our lives, it's magic, cathartic and an anti-depressant too. I cannot imagine my life without a television. And the invention of flat screen TV's watching them is so much more fun!
