Beautiful love poems. Relations go through various stages and struggles. Only then can two people truly be bound to each other. Well written and tells a story. Thanks for sharing.

Twenty six years, a forged diamond! That's exactly what true love and commitment is all about. My wife's and mine is going on 39 years! Too many couples today can't believe that love can last that long, I believe as your notes mention; that is because they are looking to Hollywood for an example instead of those of who have set true examples of longevity in love - plain, simple, but joyful and happy folks like us.

This is a very well written poem you have penned for the Valentine poem contest. You used very good descriptive and true words and very nice imagery. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

Like your poem's content and its challenge. Commitment in a marriage is not always easy. I'm probably from the old school; many of us live a bittersweet life, but we love.

Hello Diana,
I guess you can no longer say you never write love poems.
I like the emphasis on the word "forged,"
It has the sound and meaning of something substantial,
that took time and effort to create, and has permanence.
This is a truer love poem than most that I've read,
a diamond with twenty-six facets, twenty syllables and six stars.
Best wishes to you both
and good luck in the contest.
Robert

Hey, I am so, so sorry about the delay in getting back to you... I take care of my 100-year-old Father-in-Law and it is hard to write or read or answer as much as I would like. I am grateful that I can be here to do this... It is a blessing... thanks again for your wonderful review... Aslo I just read your poem on time in the contest for poem of the month... It is stunning. Time always intrigues me. You nailed it. Can't remember if I reviewed you. I will check right now. I hope it wins... off to read.

I have been told that a diamond is formed as a result of carbon being put under extreme pressure. I am not a scientist and can neither deny or confirm this premise. I do know that after nearly 49 years of being married to the same woman, relationships do come under pressure. Arguments, boredom, interference from friends, family and jealous enemies; children who break your heart; economic hardships. The list can be staggeringly long. Survive all this and manage to stay together and still be able to tolerate each other and you have a diamond that is breakable only by death.

We choose who we love and sometimes it doesn't start off easy-going or even later on, but a diamond didn't start off pretty. Founded in the dirty mines. Well done

I like you presenting the idea of how true love can only be achieved, not found, and it's the 'happily ever after' type of ending already. Yes, it's really important, the person we choose -- but love also requires coming through thick and thin and staying alive after all that in order to be called 'true'. Thank you for creating!

This is very nice. And your are correct about forging a diamond. Time, pressures and heat are what that takes. One cannot deny the similarities in a forging a strong and lasting relationship, in a pressure filled world.

Great entry.
