Excellent advice. In Al Anon language, this relates to the three "A"s: Awareness, Acceptance, Action. Wisdom arrives from all sides of the coin!!!!

You've got me a little puzzled with this one by your placement of the word 'respond' which you have also chosen as your title. I wonder how you are responding if you do not speak until the next line. 'Respond' would usually suggest some sort of an answer - perhaps it is a silent answer.
In any case, good luck with your entry.

Thank you for the excellent review and great comments and question. In answer to your question respond is to pause, breathe, and then speak. The opposite would be to react! This should be everyone's mantra. I wrote an article on in once. It had to do with social media and responding to people's posts and stopping to take a breathe. So yes, bang on. Thank you for sharing.

Relationships of every year ilk would benefit if each side would not give on to a knee jerk response...
It's so hard to reel words back in...once cast, that hook can be damaging!

I have to give six stars because this is something that is so important in everyday life, but so many people don't do it. We are quick to speak and respond, but slow to take a second and think on if our words would edify or tear down once spoken.
