This story makes me very sad. . .this animal is SO BEAUTIFULL. But dogs, like children are a lot of work to care for and raise. Once they are passed the puppy stage, dogs are wonderful, loving companions but until they get to be 3/4 years old (especially male dogs. . they are work). If you don't take the time and energy needed they will not be easy to have in your family and maybe should be placed with another family who will be able to take the time and energy. So maybe you did this dog a favor. Nicely written.

It could not have been easy to give up Mr. Dog even though you make it very clear why he did not fit in. Some dogs cannot be retrained after their youth and often they are not the ones at fault. Your poem tells your story very well. Rod
