Posted late in the week, this piece will not receive all the six-star ratings that it deserves. I was fully engaged with every word and, as I write this, I still have goosebumps (like yours). I felt a sense of identity with you because we share so much in common--trips to Texas (I'm there now), Shreveport casinos (love them), traveling, collecting, bird watching . . . Our shared interests is actually pretty remarkable. That added to my involvement in the story.
I kept checking to see if your story was listed as true. Remarkable indeed. And, you certainly had a remarkable marriage. Thanks for sharing how that is to be done.

WOW. We do have a lot in common. I was blessed beyond belief in two marriages; lost both of my husbands rather sudden. 3 years after Ronnie's crossing, I met and married Randall. He passed with Covid in December 2020. By the way, Oklahoma has some pretty good casinos too. Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my work. I appreciate it. ann

This could have been entered in a number of contests, but it's a good entry into the supernatual contest. One question: How did you have an Australian spoon if you'd never been there? Good luck in the contest.

You are asking the same question I have asked so many times about the Australian spoon. I don't know the answer. I still have all of my spoon racks, but I don't know where that spoon is. I am so glad I had witnesses in the room when it occurred, or I may have begun to question whether it truly happened. It happened. ann

Hi there,

I was completely hooked into reading this and believe me that is a very difficult feat to achieve. Can't tell you why though. Probably that opening.

I have to say that the first line of the second paragraph is genius following on from the opening paragraph. there's something so mundane about a spoon collection but it kickstarts this harrowing tale. It's a brilliant transition.

Also, you just made my wife cry.

This is very clever, and well written. I was just slightly confused by the quick jump from January 2002 to 2003. It made it not so obvious they hadn't been to Australia and detracted slightly from the end. I think I wold have written the times a bit more carefully.

Hello Annmuma a happy Thursday to you. I hope this finds you well. I enjoyed your Supernatural story-not horror entry. I personally am not sure whether or not I believe in the supernatural, however if I ever got a sign "from beyond" I would probably Freak out, forget goosebumbs I'd have underwear lumps...lol but that's just me. Anyway enough of my ramblings. Good jobs and good luck!

Thank you for sharing your feelings. The spoon was my first real 'touch/feel' connection to someone of the other side. I've had many since then. .. but none as clear as that one. Maybe one must just be open to seeing things that others don't. Who know!! Thanks for reading and reviewing....especially for the good luck wishes. ann

Like you writing it, reading this gave me goose bumps! I like to believe in an afterlife (not sure that's the right word, but it will do), but have not really experienced anything. It gives me hope to read a story such as yours. You did an awesome job of writing something "supernatural but not horror". You also did a nice job of painting a picture of your relationship with your late husband. Nice job!

Thank you for your time and your kind words. Watch for those 'signs'. Sometimes they are almost imperceptible until they become familiar. This was my most obvious contact and I believe it came because I needed it and I was open to it. Again, I appreciate your review. ann

Anna,

I knew I was saving a six for something. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your husband. God works in mysterious ways. This is such a heartwarming story and goes far beyond coincidence. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

Thank you, Susan, for the words and for the stars. This is a story that, had I not had witnesses, I would have likely never shared. You are right in that God works in mysterious ways. thank you so much! ann
