This is lovely, Theodore. Good examples. I can relate to the cataract removal and brighter colors. "Blows sight into sound" is an amazing line. Also, "A prayer swaddles a bitter heart."

Theodore McDowell, you wake us from slumber, shake us with words of music, make us glad to listen and relish breathing, take us to the hidden truths revealed within. Thank you for your sensitivity and bravery. We all are the beneficiaries of your gifts.

This is a wonderful poem in which every verse speaks of the miracle of renewal of spirit. It is amazing to feel the joy of living flowing back into a life that felt hopeless and beyond repair. God, only, has the power to awaken such a soul to the newness of life and hope.

As we are led from the darkness into the light, our world becomes so much clearer when nestled in the belief of the Lord and what he offers us.
Life has so much more to offer if only our hearts open and accept what is.
My vision of what your words offered to me. I hope I didn't get too off track.
Hugs, Carol

Tim,
This is an interesting take on rebirth, and I'm sure there are innumerable other examples. Change for the sake of change is never good. But change for the sake of rebirth is really what life is all about. I liked that you finished with the unseen hand of the wind. I like to think of it as a metaphor for the unseen hand of God behind positive change and rebirth/renewal.

Sue, based on your comment, I added a first stanza to give it the context of metaphors for my rebirth when God touched me and transfigured me. The metaphors are a praise of what that experience felt like for ME.

Love it!

A taxonomy of strange happenings that are sometimes natural sometimes man made. They are strange only inasmuch as they are somewhat paradoxical. I like the blind saxophonist best; blowing sight into sound is a really loaded description creating conflicting visual and aural images.

Nature is a delight to all the senses even when they are fading over time. We are always in awe of the renewal of life in spring and the progress we encounter, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

"Rebirth"
This brings a new and interesting, as well as beautiful perspective to the subject.
I do believe this is based on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
(As written in the New testament)
...
I like the various ways it was brought about and all wonderfully created!
...
Sometimes writing is not just about words on the paper but imagination from above.

Out of sixes... Such delicate vignettes of rebirth, scattered like petals down the page...
Each precisely in focus and yet whispers of
faith and renewal to tuck within my soul...
This is the beauty of your poetry!

How do you do it?!!! A selection of thoughtful snapshots about re-birth, each perfectly described by a few short words to indicate purpose or result. So thought-provoking. Well done!!!
