Oh, Wow, what a tear-jerker this story turned out to be. You are a master storyteller. I loved this short and well-written read. It is absolutely perfect. Your endings are a work of art. Great work.

You are so kind to me. I thank you so much... I write what's in my heart at the time and often it's gut wrenching. My poor characters carry the brunt of my life. LOL

I like the way you start your stories in the middle of the action and let the background unfold gradually. I'm assuming the woman in this story is an angle, sent to get the little boy, not knowing Emmy was there also. Even though the story mentions murder, it is basically a story of the love and devotion of a little boy.

This is a sad but beautiful story. At first, I thought he was waiting on his mother but then realized that it was the girl he had promised not to leave. Now, they were able to go together to heaven. I enjoyed your story very much.

Yes, you got it! He was already dead but refused to leave his little sister behind. It was a very special moment to write.

Hi Carol. Such a sad story, with so many relevant and meaningful elements. Abuse, murder, suicide, horrific family environment .... Poor Timmy - couldn't die until his sister was ready to go with him? Or died, but would not leave for heaven without his sister? He kept his promise, poor child. Well written, but so very dark!

Carol, the lady whose imagination never sleeps. Keeps unsuspecting readers from expecting the unexpected so that she can continually catch them off guard. And I must say, it's always fun and entertaining. Thanks for sharing.

This was a sad story on many accounts, Carol. You told it well. The details are well presented and carry the meaning of your words. It's often sad what young children think, say, and believe. To keep his promise was the most important thing for Timmy no matter what.
Respectfully, Jan

I had to read this a couple times to alleviate my confusion. At least I hope, There is a dead dad who was shot by mom. The main character is an angel. Her role was to pick up the souls of the two dead children. Did the mom kill herself? Is what I got out of the story, what you meant?

My what a sad story, I liked the ending, it was beautiful ---

A brilliant glow filled the room as the woman recognized the girl as her mission. Her arms gathered around the two children, and they ascended into the light as police officers spilled into the room of death.A brilliant glow filled the room as the woman recognized the girl as her mission. Your story is very sad, but it is very well written. Everything flows so smoothly, leading us up to the climax. How sad for what these children had experienced. Great job on this one.
