It does feel like we have the four horsemen of the apocalypse with us now the way the world is behaving. yeah, the stuff I'm posting now isn't currently what I'm working on. for the first time in years I'm ahead. lol You know I only posted 9 stories last year (13 posts I think). I found a lot of old ideas and part-finished stories on my old pc and laptops so I've fleshed a lot of the stuff out, reedited and reworked so this is quite fun.
I'm really hoping this year that someone arrives out of nowhere and that these bloggers and story regurgitaters don't clog up all the trophy spots. How in the hell does Humpwhistle only finish 7th in the rankings despite being ne of the best writers on here. Well, I do know why... numbers game.
I'll be slipping back down the rankings come next week I reckon into obscurity once again. lol

It is a numbers game. Lee is like me, posts once a week. There are some who post two a day every day, which no one can call short stories. There aren't many novelists on here, fortunately! But, saying that, if you look at the novelist rankings, you'd think there were loads. I don't think the rankings reflect writers properly.

No they don't, not at all. I've tried to explain this to a few of the new writers cropping up to basically not get dragged into the multiple posting thing as it diminishes the writing process, not enhance it. It's about churning it out rather than working on a piece. it's like the short word limits, you end up servicing the word count, not the story.

The final conversation and associated actions confirm the visitor's identity, and your helpful Notes verify the rest.
Every aspect of this story is thoroughly thought out, including plausible dialog, the details of each action, and the calm atmosphere resulting from Jaspar Hungerford's expectation of the visit which would relieve him of his own suffering. Stopping the clock's pendulum and fading away himself is the perfect end to Time and Death.
Superb, aptly illustrated, and worthy of publication so more readers will have the opportunity to read and remember it. -- Mike

Yes this is certainly a quirky read. However, the images are stark and plain to see. I really enjoyed the images of the characters by the fire - they provided quite an atmosphere in the room. I very much admired your descriptions, Giddy

This was on an old file from four or five years ago, so I thought I'd give it an airing. i recently discovered a lot of older stories I hadn't published and stuff I'd been working on from years ago so I'm trying to do something with a lot of it now. He is well mannered and deliberate, quite emotional, even crying, as he puts that hand on Jasper's shoulder. Then he stops the clock, and death comes, matter of fact. It's sort of like a business meeting, very contemporary in mood. estory

This is an expertly written tale, based on the four horses, although I didn't realize that until I read your notes. I was aware that the visitor was death though; the conversation was a little dark, and now I'm wondering about the drink. Just caught that. Well done.
