Mary, very well done. Such detailed background and descriptions of both cemeteries. I loved the history involved. I don't think you could have done justice to the contrasting cemeteries in poetic form. Much more fitting for prose.

I found this writing quite interesting. The ending was perfect when you pointed out that it doesn't matter who we are, we all end the same. I'm like you, I tried poetry and gave it up for prose. Also, I am just returning from a long dry spell. I will probably see more of your work on here.

Thank you for your review. I am glad you found this to interesting. I did three free verse poems some time ago and found it difficult. I will stick to stories.

I think you should write a poem about cemeteries... more specifically, the ones you termite about here. It wouldn't take you long to find your voice

This work has reached the exceptional level

Besides being informative, this piece is very touching in its comparison of the residents. Death surely is the great equalizer as you well demonstrate. Particularly liked how you brought out personal attributes of the more common people, the ink or oil stained hands, those who caught the 6am bus, etc. You made what could have been simply an educational narrative come alive and you made it relatable and interesting. So well done!

Thank you for sharing this interesting information about these two cemeteries. I like your closing lines: " It does not matter how elaborate or simple the stone may be; as in death, all enter eternal life and are judged on the deeds of how they lived their lives."

As someone who enjoys visiting cemeteries and loves history, here in New Zealand, I found your article fascinating for what it reveals about American life (and death). I'm glad you wrote this story as opposed to a poem, because you could get much more detail in, and it is the details of these lives and cemeteries that provides so much interest in your story.
I love the idea of an artist in residence program in a cemetery.... I think I will ask our city council for permission to begin one here where I live. Cemeteries contain so many stories and images.

Thank you for your review and kind comments. I visited Mt. Auburn and it is a fascinating place to visit. I have to admit, I enjoy visiting cemeteries there is in Boston, the old Granary cemetery that dates back to the 18th century. If you search Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, you will find their website for greater detail of its history.
Thank you again for the review.

I like the comparison and descriptions of the two cemeteries. Your point is well taken, we all wind up under the grass. Some sooner than expected. Very nice job. Stay safe and stay healthy in the new year.
