It is fine. It's well presented, the image is menacing, and the tone is...well!

Here's the thing, Mark. From anyone else I'd be content. I know your work.

My heart is calling out for more! Whirling conduit, untamed flume, grey gravid clouds, unnatural wailing...

If Van Gogh sketched a wonderful charcoal still life I'd be impressed, I'm sure. BUT HE's VAN GOGH!

It's hard to interpret tone in a review so let me be clear. Your work is so strong, so consistently, I'm literally aching for you to rock my world with your unique vision.

I say this out of awe, not out of criticism.

Please believe me!

    Karenina,

It has taken me forever to respond to your generous critique and kind words. Now that you are taking a break from FanStory, I will miss your reviews of my short stuff.

I am guilty of trying to post regularly and don?t spend enough crafting the same. I should draft a poem, think about it over a day or two, revise and edit again before posting. Of course, I do like the brain exercise of trying to write daily even if I don?t decide to post.

For a while, I was submitting poems to theHaikuFoundation.org web site and not FS. Occasionally, they even got posted. I got out of that habit. I really need to reconsider my short poem writing in light of your comments.

Via the FS message, I will share my personal email.

    Thanks for your friendship.

This one caught my attention. I thought you were talking about Birmingham, Alabama. We definitely feel as though we are a ready target for tornadoes. More dangerous here, too, because with all the hills, you can't see them coming.
Nice work, Mark. Hope you are having a great new year. Stay healthy.

Thanks Debbie. Do enjoy your New Year with health and happiness for you and your family.

In my northeast corner of our great country, we only fear the strong winds during hurricane season. Occasionally, there are twisters in our region but none have yet to hit our neighborhood.

I have a friend who lives in tornado alley - that blaring horn is a sound that strikes fear into their hearts. I don't know if I could live like that! Compelling photo with some well chosen words hammer the point home.

    Thanks June,

My family has never suffered from the consequences of twisters, tornados, or hurricanes. Of course, the high winds often shake our home. I am of the generation where as school children in the 1950s we heard the sirens being tested, not for storms but to check our readiness at the time of war.

Once again, you've demonstrated your skills at packing so much into only seventeen syllables. Vividly descriptive of the side of nature that we dread and fear!

    Janice,

THANKS for your compliment. This was an easier task than trying to describe the recent fire storm and devastation in Colorado.
