What an uplifting narrative about a beloved relative who passed away and who lived life to the full and filled with generosity- there is a wonderful honesty evident in the writing style - thanks for sharing

This is a memorable story, Terry, and that is the most important quality of all. I have some suggestions:
In the second paragraph, combine the first three sentences: Irene, my wife's aunt, died at the age of 87.
In the second sentence of the third paragraph, put the information about Paul first and widowhood last. The sentence makes no sense as written.
She had been forcing...

This is a fine story Terry and it touched my heart and I so agree with you, we should have standing ovations for those who has passed, we should celebrate their good life and cheer to them as we would when they were born, a fine tribute to your wife's Aunt, Irene, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you for sharing this contest entry about this remarkable pain in the butt. I enjoyed learning about her. There is something to be said about women like Irene. Good luck with the contest.

What a great story about your wife's Aunt Irene. And that's how a funeral needs to be! It's such a pleasure to attend a funeral and learn things you would have never known about the individual. Makes you have a completely different perspective about them.

So very true. I loved this story. I can see there was not much love lost between you and aunt Irene. But I can see that the funeral was an eye opener. What a festive way of saying goodbye to person who turned out to be a character. Good luck in the contest. Ulla:)))

What a lovely way to leave Earth's stage, with everyone singing her song and applauding! I would love to go out that way. This was a really lovely non-fiction story, one that shows how differently we can see people. Let's not judge, but get involved. Loved this, well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Hi there,
It's funny what our perceptions conjure up as opposed to what the reality is. Sometimes people only let us see a fraction of themselves for whatever reason.
had one son Paul adopted - maybe insert commas either side of Paul.
Good piece

This is an excellent story about a person everyone should get to know in their life. She gave her all even if it wasn't all the good, but she was a valuable person in her community and you did a great job telling her story.

What a touching story. Very vivid and well written. I think a lot of us an "Aunt Irene" in our family. Sometimes be don't know our relatives as well as we should. I love the ending when everyone at the funeral stand to sing Irene goodnight. Thanks for sharing this touching story.
