Bravo!! You did a great job on this. We all know who was behind that riot on January 6. It was just one more way to try to bambuzzle President Trump. I don't understand how so many people can hate one person. Even having a new president, the American citizens might have felt bad, but we've lost before and then given our all to our new president. But, we've never had a president that threw us under the bus within 24 hours of taking office. I don't know how they can allow Biden to be in office one more day. He is the real danger to our country. Great job!!!!

Thank you, I'm so glad you feel as I do. I've had a few very angry responses that said that it's people like me that are the problem. Your review means the world to me, thanks again. :)

Hi,
In your poem, you stated, "It's just what the Democrats wanted that day,
they encouraged protesters to riot that way." This is a lie, the encouragement came from Trump, remember this; "We fight, we fight like hell,
And if you don't fight like hell,
You're not going to have,
A country anymore."

We're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue,
And we're going to the capital,
And I'm going with you."

You conveniently ignored this volatile encouragement. Can you quote a similar statement from a Democrat? You make statements without any proof, probably to serve your own ends. Your words are dangerous, and so are you.

You also stated, "An unarmed woman, Ashli Babbitt, shot dead,
just what was she doing to cause them such dread?"

Let's look at that. Miss Babbitt was trespassing on a federal reserve. She was participating in a violent, uncontrolled mob rioting against its own country, and she was breaking and entering into private property in a violent rage. Have you ever heard of self-defense, or how about a Police Officer(s) protecting himself from a crazed attacker?
And finally, you stated, "An insurrection? Don't make me laugh!
It never was that, not even by half."
Do you even know the definition of the word insurrection? Well, I looked it up in Merriam-Webster for you. I quote their definition here for your edification, "an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or established government." That was pretty much what was going on that day, don't you think?
Your perception of reality is warped, probably to maintain the false world in which you live. You and your kind are the problems, not the Democrats or anyone else. It is you.

You know whats great about America? That we're all entitled to our own opinions. Thanks for reading my poem. :)

How anyone can laugh at such a grave event in American history is beyond me. If I ignore the grossly inaccurate content of your poem, I find competent use of rhyme and meter. The meter is chaotic throughout, which hints at the chaotic event itself. I do note, however, that the meter is consistent within each couplet. The rhymes are not forced, and all but two couplets end in masculine rhymes. I think the last stanza would have been more effective had it matched the structure of the other stanzas. I don't see any poetic reason for the change. Also, the weak trochaic ending of the first line of the last stanza runs counter to the meaning of the line. I had the feeling after reading your poem for the first time that the final stanza was an afterthought as if you wanted to end the piece on a conciliatory note. The last sentence doesn't really work well with the rest of the poem. But, that has more to do with content; the poetry itself is well done and could be excellent with more attention to the small, nit-picky details I've mentioned. Nicely done.

so be it; we each have our opinion what happened on January 6th. I know one thing it should never be swept under the rug and be forgotten. It was shameful.

I disagree with everything your poem says, except for the end. The other protests were not against the capital which is sacred ground. Democrat or Republican we just need to heal and move on.

Thank you for reading my poem. We agree to disagree, but I will say that the capital belongs to the people not the government. It's not sacred ground, but what is sacred is the constitution and the freedoms garenteed therein. I think our current government has throw that out the window. I pray that things will get better over time. Thanks again. :)

Brilliant, well written piece. I'm giving you a sixer this morning for your Ashli Babbitt reference. (correct her name maybe?) She wasn't even mentioned yesterday, even as a throw away comment. Disgraceful. I loved your take on this event and you even rhymed it. I agree with everything you said. There are some great entries in this contest. Good luck, poet! Lynda

Excellent summation. This was in no way an insurrection and certainly not the equivalent of Pearl Harbor, 911 or the Holocaust. They have taken ridiculousness to a different level. There are good indications that there were federal agents inserted into the crowds, encouraging the less than brilliant ones to enter the building. We may never learn the truth if the Marxists succeed in controlling all voting.

This is a thoughtful look at that day, which was not an insurrection by any means. If you look at the videos from that day, you will see that the protesters were ushered in. Your poem expresses your viewpoint perfectly, and succinctly. Well written, to the point. Good job!

oh, this is nicely done.
I did notice a little stumble.
"just what the hell goes on, on Capitol Hill"
the on, on is a little strange for me.
perhaps, "just what the hell goes on, in Capitol Hill"
but it could be just me.
Good Luck on the contest.
