Great story, Liz, and congratulations to Scott for telling the "brother" off about his unChristlike behavior. To treat a person in need that way is disgraceful. We are called to love our neighbors as ourselves, without putting conditions on it. Brother John will have to answer to Jesus Himself for his behavior towards the homeless woman who came to him, in search of help and compassion.

Hi Liz,
I recall your story about "Brother John" very well. He has no business being in the ministry. The good Lord calls us. You've probably seen paintings of Him at the door (to our hearts). But he knocks. He's not pushy. The only latch on the door is on the inside. He won't open it Himself. We must do that. But it doesn't stop Him from calling our name. Perhaps, sooner or later, we'll hear Him.
Brother John's door... the handle is on his side. He only opens the door if you've accepted Christ as your Savior. Otherwise, you're in No Man's Land, hungry and cold. It's a sad way to run an Outreach program. I can just imagine that Scott let him have it with both barrels. He tells it like it is. I like the way you put it...

I'm glad he ripped Brother John a new one but it probably didn't help anyone except Scott. As I told you previously I fully believe Bother John will get what's coming to him. Shirley

Good for Scott. It was time that someone pointed out the error of Brother John's ways. I will really miss your stories about Scott and your other friends. There were always a bright spot for me.

Interesting that Father John would decide to pay Scott a visit just then. I wonder if Scott found out why before he ripped into him. lol In any event, cheers for Scott. This man certainly needed to to knocked off his high and mighty horse!

Wow, a brother from a another mother, a brother that is not so brotherly given care to people who are out of it's Christian beliefs. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Good for Scott to set that guy straight. I hope he also showed him the places in the Bible that he was not following. But alas, it's an error of the Church for millennia. Sigh.

self-ordained minister-- yes, you can take a course online! I would have no qualms about calling this man names. I had a girlfriend who, after years of being good friends, decided to join the Baptist church and when I refused to attend Easter service with her, she told me I would go to hell. I told her our friendship was over! But I didn't use profanity. She got the point anyway. :-)

Great Scott! Brother John deserved both barrels and more for being a self-righteous jackass. I am not a bible reader, but even I can think of many passages that refer to the care of those less fortunate and not to judge others. Well, I will in Brother Johns's case, I think he has a reservation and a well-earned one to go down under. (not Australia)
Thanks for the update.

Bravo for Scott in telling Bro John off. He deserved every word and then some for his actions regarding those he is supposed to love.' What a hateful thing to say to someone in need that they will be spending eternity down south, and I don't mean Florida.
Respectfully, Jan
