Those branches grew but harmed the roof
We cut it down I have the proof
Trees are awesome. It's hard to remove them. But sometimes it's necessary.
And expensive. Especially the ones that have been around a while. Nice rhyme and meter in this poem. Excellent.

I miss that maple and it cost me to have it cut down but it was necessary. It was a good shade tree. Thanks for your review.

The author's words are descriptive, interesting, nature based and
creative. I enjoyed the last stanza where the kittens take a nap!
The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is perfect and compliments these words. Happy New Year!....Maria

This was a true story, and a fun poem to write. Since then the poor stump has been completely covered with snow as we have had an enormous amount this year. Thanks so much for your kind review. Have a great New Year.

This is a very nice poem. To me it is above all a rhyming poem, and its status as a Take A Photo Poem is secondary. It's because the rhymes are so solid and interesting - but then so is the stump, so it should go either way.

An excellent poem for this contest, good luck. It is too bad you had to cut it down, especially after you were the one who planted it. But you have repurposed it in a very creative way. Good job.

I like it. We had an elm tree that was going to threaten our house, so we had it cut down. I had mixed emotions since the Dutch Elm Disease has killed off almost all the elms in our state. I don't know if they will ever come back. Every once in awhile, I will see a small elm, but it usually dies within a few years.

What an excellent post! A poem about the stump of a maple tree is a great asset to anyone who loves trees! Many folks hold onto their tree stumps after they pull them from the ground. You are not alone! Even though you say the photo of the tree is blurry, I find that there are many people who love to view trees!
So, hold on to your horses, plenty of photos don't look the way you want them to look.
Have a happy 2022!
Take good care of your trees and your own life!

Just beautiful work here Annie. The ending caps it off well, but, the whole poem, fluid, aura full, imagery full, just a joy to read. Smooth off the block, it continued like a stream knowing where it was going.
The only negative...I yearned for more of this one.
Bravo.
A lovely poem.
My idea of a winner.
Good luck.
Best wishes.

I find it enchanting that even now, as a trunk, you find memories to cherish...and discern a benevolent purpose for what remains. Time had its way with us as we pass through seasons of life... This made me smile...
Like Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree"--
there is worth and purpose in every stage of life!

A nice message that every one of us is valuable and deserves consideration and respect--even as we age, wither, lose stature, etc...

Isn't it sad when we have to cut a tree because it's harming our house? We had the same with a gigantic blue spruce and just like your picture our stools made from that spruce has Cossack hats of snow. I think the snow will stay awhile in these freezing temps!
Best wishes in the contest and
sending prayers for Joy for you in the New Year!

Since then the poor stump has been completely covered with snow as we have had an enormous amount this year as I imagine that side of the mountains probably has this year also.
