Well, this was unexpected! I like your story.I I'm not a fan of science fiction, typically, but I started reading this and I couldn't stop. It made me crack a smile or too!
Well done and enjoyed!

Loved it and your humor!

It's strange how certain things sneek past depending on who did what and when on the site. I love the people and feel grateful to have found everyone, but we should all be on a fair playing field. Some can even resort to plagiarism and such and all is well. I had one copy my character list and take the money... but was told it was okay. Crazy!

Wishing you the best in the New Year. Hugs, Carol

Thank you for the fantastic review, Carol. Yes, the plagiarism is found often on here. But we just move on. I didn't have enough room with the word limit to add how the other piece sounded just like a Halmark card. Lol. I really appreciate the generous stars, Carol. I'm glad you liked ridiculous piece. I hope you have a wonderful new year as well.

Amazing how a theme can carry on for centuries, isn't it?
Your illustration is a scintillating addition to your presentation, too.
It is a clever and quite appropriate adjunct.
This is a well though out presentation.
You may rightfully take a bow, or curtsey as desired or appropriate.

Thank you for the great review, Allezw2. I actually created the picture myself from a couple different Google Images. I appreciate the generous stars. I'm glad you liked this silliness. I hope you had a great Christmas and that you have a fantastic upcoming year.

This was an absolute scream and so true. We love our shibboleths. that is why they become shibboleths. I don't normally comment on pieces offering only a two cent reward as need the money to post my own rubbish but I broke my own rule because this was so much fun.

Hey, friend, hello. Thank you for the awesome review even though it only paid the little 2 cents. I would have given thought to promoting this silliness if there would have been more takers in the contest. Lol. As always, I really do appreciate the stars and the stop by, Pantygynt. I'm glad you liked my ridiculous take on the contest. I hope you have a fantastic upcoming year. Thank you again.

I am the ghost of Christmas reviews. It looks like you have been unmuted finally. I was actually notified that you published this. 370 member dollars, not bad. I have, like, one which prompts me to write more reviews so I can enter more contests.

If you capitalize both letters in "He Gave Me Guidance" (change to HE) you might get an extra vote or two. Baby Jesus controls the Christmas star, so watch out, as it could turn out to be a homing missile if you break any rules.

Lol. No, I'm still muted. But just because I'm muted doesn't mean I can't join in the contest fun. Yeah, that's all I do on here, join contests. Once you place in a few, you have throw away money. So that's exactly what I do with it. Haha.

I will go change the title to a capital Me but the He is Leonard not baby J. Lol. Thank you for the great review and stars, Harambe. Some day you're going to have to teach me about these manipulating the workings of this site's programming so I too can take full advantage of such. Ha. Have a good one, H. Hope your Christmas was a good one.

You and I have both been unmuted, it seems -- I think it just consists of suspending the notification to our "fans" when we publish new stuff. And I got a notification on your latest piece, which hopefully passes ***'s, just to piss *** off.

Inserting the fixed images as I have on my profile is actually very simple and requires no JavaScript. Here is an example for you:

    <img src="https://i.imgur.com/YUkhv6K.png" style="position:fixed; bottom:-10px; right:-25px" height=40px width=80px />

This is the "escaped" text, which I actually pasted as non-escaped below my comments, so you can see the effect. But you should be able to copy and edit it anywhere on a page and it will render here. On your profile page, just pick any of the comments to edit them and paste this in.

There are a few elements to understand:

1-image source. You already know how to edit your images, quite effectively. I store mine at imgur.com. Just replace this with whatever link you have. Avoid Google
Images like the plague; they do not like fanstory.com.

2-position: if you set to "absolute" it will scroll off the page, whereas "fixed" stays with the page as it moves.

3-pick a corner, and offset from there. I picked the bottom right. If you were doing top left, for example, you could substitute the words *top* and *left* and offset accordingly. Positive parameters shift the image off the page; negative parameters push it onto the page.

4-resizing your image. Images auto-scale so actually I think only setting the height or width matters, and I cannot remember which one of them it is that matters. If you are using a bunch of images make sure you keep them small or the page load time will go up significantly. It is best to just have your image the right size in the first place so you don't have to waste connection speed and then resize it, but I was lazy.

Hopefully this works and I did not screw up the sample. There is also a LOT more you can do with dynamic content (I did a simple example of that here); check out w3schools.com for more.

That link, by the way, looks like this:

<a href="https://www.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?hd=1&id=1043214">this is the text that you click on</a>

Merry Christmas and hope you have fun with your newfound powers,

A very clever post, and I send you good wishes. As a matter of fact I entered a Christmas story for a contest this year, and it was about something happening this Christmas. It was disqualified on the basis that it hadn't been a PAST Christmas story (although that hadn't been specified), and although it had already happened during the Christmas SEASON, this year's Christmas DAY had not yet arrived. To me a Christmas story is a story about Christmas. Ah well! "The same old ..." enough said! .... Best wishes for your contest!

Well, that was a rip off, being disqualified for that. Sorry to hear it. Yes, this site decides who they let pass and who don't. Thank you for the great review and generous stars, Wendy. I hope your Christmas was a good one. I'm glad you liked this silliness.

After reading your hilarious story, I will read those Christmas entries for the contest. Your story intrigued my interest.

I guess people long for the "lame" Christmas stories during the Christmas time. It is those stories that keep the traditions alive.

Your story is certainly innovative. I have to remember to vote in this contest.

Lol. Yes, everyone longs for the same Christmas stuff they long for every year. Haha. Thank you for the great review, PF. I really appreciate the gracious stars. I'm glad you liked this ridiculous piece. I hope you had a great Christmas.
