This essay makes very direct, critical observations about the way in which Americans celebrate Christmas. The essay advocates many admirable ideas that befit a better world than the one we inhabit.
However, while this piece of writing does invoke high ideals and ends with an affirmation of the historical and religious reason that Christmas is a holiday, its functional writing style does not utilize the language possibilities that make a cluster of words memorable. The simple statement of an important, or powerful, or passionate idea does not make great writing; when such ideas are presented within language that is imaginative, surprising, elegant, powerful, sonorous, or remarkable in a hundred other ways, it becomes excellent. The writer's job is to add vitality to the message he or she chooses by the choice and arrangement of words he or she makes. I know you asked if I had read your poetry, and I did read several poems by you that I did not rate. But I would make the same criticism: to be good poetry, an idea requires artful treatment with language to become excellent or exceptional poetry. I humbly suggest that Pooietoo read some celebrated poetry within the anthologies that are very common. I agree with everything written. I think I found a typo: There are too not two many ads. There's a z before October and an r missing at the end of November. Good job on the sentiment of what is important about Christmas.

Good message! And it's such a shame that our economy is based on how well the stores do during the Christmas shopping season. All the while, Jesus came in the most humble way. Best wishes in the contest!!

A very nice lesson about the true meaning of Christmas. I'm afraid that there will be no change from what we see today. Maybe God will have to take out a few ads on TV.

Rightly, today it has been the need to know the meaning of Christmas and meaningful Christmas, Jesus is the light of the world, He, the Son of God, was born in the inn, though today, TV stations have Christmas commercials, still we should remember Jesus; well said, well done; keep writing.
