That looks wonderful and probably tastes even better. It is fun learning about different cultures food for Christmas. Your poem had all the proper elements and the picture brought it home. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments and good wishes. It didn't place - I guess most people can't think of this as Christmas food for a summer Christmas.

I suppose it's hot in Australia at Christmas time so it looks like it would be a delightful refreshing desert. It made my mouth water just looking at the picture. Good luck with the contest.

Excellent entry for the 5-7-5 Christmas poetry contest. Good syllables count and connection between lines. Nice presentation and imagery. Good luck in the contest.

It's a typical NZ dessert as well - you got my mouth watering with this picture and your words. I always look forward to summer fruits being in season, although mangoes remain far too expensive here.

Thank you so much for reviewing - and yes, there is still the on-going battle between Australia and NZ re who first invented the pavlova. What a shame about mangoes for you. Here they are plentiful right now, not expensive and SO delicious.

Who cares??? It is just yummy whoever invented it - time to put rivalries aside (By the way, it was NZ haha). I am salivating about the mangoes!!!

    You think? Ha, ha!

I am conflicted of course - I am an Aussie living in NZ. Some years ago i worked as the production editor at the University of Otago Press in Dunedin, NZ, and I remember working on a book about the history of the pavlova. There was some evidence to support that the recipe did feature in an Australian recipe book first, but that it had been handed down through New Zealand families, such as handwritten in family recipe books. But who's to say that didn't also happen in Oz? Let's just share the glory.

Yes. Good idea. In the end what does it matter?
What an interesting life you've had.

Hey Wendy. Your gorgeous photo and the memory of a luscious Pavolova makes me really want to eat one ... right now... and I even have a fresh cheesecake I made that needs to be cut :). A lovely and fun verse.

This is torture! I LOVE fruit and love it when the Meals on Wheels brings two Kiwis...yummm. It is disconcerting to think of a hot Christmas, but that is probably what Mary and Joseph experienced. Pavlova is also a response to something- you familiarize someone with something and they drool when it is mentioned. This makes a nice entry for the contest~

Hi Sherry, if you lived near me, I would make one for you each week! They are delicious, and full of goodness (well the fruit is anyway!). If you can buy a pavlova meringue base, the rest is just whipped cream and all your favourite fruits. Thanks so much for reviewing!

Nicely done 5-7-5 that describes what looks like the only edible type of fruitcake. That is a good way to make a sweet good for you.
Good luck in the contest
Keep writing and stay healthy
