I voted for somebody else but now that I am safe within my bedroom I feel fortunate and glad to say I know this darned good writer who especially specializes in writing poetry!
Since it is just before midnight I will refrain from watching your video now! Hopefully, by noon, I will be able to take the time to read this thoroughly, and review it with a sharp pencil for mistakes! I was surprised by all of the pearls laying nearby!
I know that I do not know you very well
And as far as the string of pearls, it might remind me of the beaches where I lived in Long Beach, California! Thank you for posting this!

Excellent entry for the Tree-Hugger 5-7-5 writing prompt contest. Good syllables count and connection between lines. Nice presentation and imagery. Good luck in the contest.

Suggestion...

five thousand years old

jagged limbs entwined by time

~ a life of hardships ~

Thanks , I like the suggestion .. when the contest is done I will edit

I like the flow and there is rhyme without over doing it , like I tend to do.

Hello author, good descriptive writing. In only seventeen syllables you have painted a picture. Of special note:

jagged limbs, twined by clime, time
(Well done)

As this is a writing prompt entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

I Love your title Methuselah. And your poem regarding the elder pines. So incredible how ancient these trees are. You have my vote for sure.

I read about the monarch butterfly having a 'methuselah' as well: most Monarchs live for 3 - 6 weeks, but when it's time to migrate South the vast distance to their breeding grounds, a Methuselah generation in born (every fourth generation) that is much stronger and lives for around 8 months to make the 5000km trek to the forests of central Mexico. Amazing!!

    Ciao !

Yes it is imposing .. as is the tree and its peers.

From outside , It looks like a giant piece of driftwood and yet it is alive inside.

If you have time to watch the video its discovery is fascinating..

The pic I chose may not really be Methuselah. itself ? the authorities don?t want people to know how it really looks and its true whereabouts to save it from vandals and souvenir seekers.

Makes sense .. those of the park and some know its exact location.

I knew about the Monarchs but I thought they made the journey every year .. I love watching national geographic .. I will definitely watch the link you provided tomorrow/ Sunday. Thank you!

It?s amazing that a fragile creature can actually accomplish such a long and peril journey.

I find it mindblogging the complexity of everything and how everything has a purpose .. all this can?t be just random .. the consequence of the Big Bang.

Thanks for the extra star I?m glad you enjoyed the read. !

A nice shift in the last line from nature to human. Great picture that shows the gnarled nature of the tree and applied it to the human condition. Almost like an existential poem.

Thank you for the lovely review .. this tree and its peers are astonishing.

They appear dead and yet they are alive .. it?s amazing they can survive the arid conditions.

All those curves, twists and jagged ends are mesmerising.

    These trees have a personality.
