An excellent and timely entry for this contest, good luck. There does seem to be a very real debate about whether the earth has enough trees that can use the C-O-2. Very good job.

Thanks, Terry. I do worry about this because of all the forest fires

Alas there are many climate change deniers that would disagree... Perhaps until the planet is no more! I appreciate the sentiment and the attempt to raise awareness. Trees are not only beautiful, they're so important to our ecosystem! Love your last line... clever way to grab those "5" syllables!

Thanks, Karenina. It is unbelievable that there are still people who deny climate change.

Oh well. It's the world we live in. If it makes SENSE and can be proven by SCIENCE somebody's going to knock it!
False facts. Alternative truth! We're drowning in it!

-Nice image for your poem.
-The syllable count is good,
along with the topic.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-I like how you tie in the
usefulness of the tree
in the last line.

Yes, trees are an integral part of the planet's health. I have never seen a chemical formula (CO2) written into a poem before! As always, I enjoyed your humor. Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks, Helen. I guess I'll have to work on H - 2 - O now.

I appreciate your poem for managing to use three rhymes in your explanation of how photosynthesis helps the atmosphere (and us) by using carbon dioxide.

Thanks, LisaMay. Are you a teacher?

No, I'm not a teacher... I just have a very broad general knowledge through being curious about stuff then looking it up. I haven't been to university either.

As a tree hugger myself, I can really relate to the concept of the Co2 that the trees give off in response to our breathing oxygen! The 5-7-5 poem has some problems with it. The first line says I hope that you knew when it ought to be I hope that you know. I know that you used the word knew to rhyme with the other two rhymes yet it is not proper English.
My suggestion is to start over again and rephrase the whole poem again. Please, take it with a grain of salt. I love the theme and the picture of the trees is lovely!
Whatever you do, good luck with the contest!
I appreciate the chance, to be honest with you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Take good care of yourself as you do Mother nature with all her trees and everything she touches!

The humorous rhyming of your wee 5-7-5 gives a punch to the poem, a true tree-hugger of a poem as it reflects on the vast importance of trees to our own existence.
I am lucky enough to live on a property with numerous large trees. I breathe easy!

Your 5 7 5 is the perfect entry for the "tree hugger" contest. You have explained the main reason for loving and appreciating trees. They're more than forest ornaments and shade providers!
