You need to write more - you have a good sense of humanity. I agree-the face is the mirror of the soul. I am glad to see artwork included here, as it really brings a bit of brightness to a post. This picture is great - a wide range of human emotions. I will watch for your work!!

Hi Brian,
this reads like an essay. I don't find any poetry in these lines. Although your commentary is very on point. One can sometimes see a strong emotion plastered across a person's face. Then there are some people who hide emotions very well and have a blankness with all delivery, thus poker face..

Suggestions. If this was an essay.
how hate or love shows...
hide the fact(*that omit*) they are...
I mean, it has...
RETHINK this sentence Simply because no matter how they try to deny it...
Show a person's true nature(* I think*omit)...
At least, that's what...

So, I'd say to you." What genre are you writing in?"
I would still suggest this is an essay, not a poem in its current form.

I like your image accompanying your story.

With our thoughts we create...
Our natural lane.

Kind regards,
James.

This reads like a story more than a poem, but I like the tone of it. You make a simple observation that is profound also. The truth and true nature always come out. I might divide your poem into sections for easier reading.
One correction...

Above your poem...poem's should not have an apostrophe (poems)
Keep writing!
Tina

I am sorry but I can't make out the reason for this denigrating poem of yours. The artwork seems to be very descriptive yet it appears to put down both liberals and conservatives as well. And your very fine print isn't easy to read at all. The question of the human face is a very interesting subject to ponder! And I agree it is sometimes hard to understand the political playing field! You might have posed a couple of good questions to ponder but instead, you simply put down a single political person who I don't think needs the embarrassment. So, I see some good points and some not good points if I were you I would have put more thought into it before posting this!
Thanks for letting me be honest!
Take care of yourself!
Jesse

Brian:

I so agree with you. And the older a person gets, the harder it will be for that person to hide who they really are because it will have become etched in their faces. Of course, the same is true for happy people. The twinkle in their eyes cannot be missed. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Brian,
I see you chose Lauren Boebert to use as an example. I think that depending on the news outlet, they are going to portray a person the way they want you to view them. On any given day I might appear to be a monster or angelic, depending on how I'm reacting to something. Because someone is having a good or bad day doesn't mean that is how they are all the time. All the more reason why Jesus told us not to judge other people, because we don't have the wisdom to see what's in their heart.
Blessings
Tom

I agree. Body language and facial expressions give away more about the nature of a person's emotions than actual words. Very insight and well-thought-out.

They say that we have the face we deserve when we are older and some people cling to a glum face that doesn't always reflect how they really feel, but it is a face they have earned over the years. A smile can lighten someone's face and make them much more appealing and years younger too, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Are you sure this is a poem? It reads more like an essay to me instead. Is it possibly mislabeled. Have a blessed Christmas. Stay safe and stay healthy.
