Hi Brian. Sometimes a person's face reveals their personality, or what is inside their heart, but I've found often it does not. Boebert in my opinion is quite attractive, but her actions and speech are often abrasive.

Many thanks for sharing today. :))

If you can read one' intent and heart from the look on a face, I highly recommend you becoming a poker player.

I know not the heart of the politician of whom you speak, but I do know what split second camera shots allow a person 'to read' about another person.

Interesting take on life.

Not sure why this piece of prose is in a book of poems? . Some grammatical points: 'and it got me thinking, "Isn't it amazing how hate or love shows on a person's face?" ' (No apostrophe for "shows". Clarity of sentence and question needed.)
The next line is not a complete sentence, nor is the third last expression. If you fix these things it will be more readable, and more compelling.

This is an interesting prose poem. I would, in the future, post something like this as prose. That way you get 4 days in the rotation rather than three, and no one telling you it isn't a poem.
May I suggest ~ I know your work, your choice.
Respectfully, Jan

I agree with what you are saying here as it has been my experience also. I think, especially as people grow old, the feelings in the heart as well as the thoughts they harbor show up in the eyes and on the face. People who think kind and loving thoughts will have a gentle expression. I wonder if you might like to employ a few poetic devices to make this appear more like a free verse and less like an essay. It would've hard to do. I certainly enjoyed reading it and considering your ideas. MM

The human face
by Brian S. Watson

Hello, Brian,

I agree with you. Facial expression gives a good impression of emotions like hate and love. Lauren Boebert is nuts and it's easy to see her hate of Democrats.

I prefer the faces of love.:)
Your poem flows well. It draws on emotions and it presents strong images.

I don't think I've read any of your poem and today, I get the pleasure of reading two of them. Lucky me. You may be correct about being able to read a person's face, but I'm pretty sure, from the articles I've read Lauren Boebert had a pretty good reason to be upset with AOC.

Technical stuff first:

I was just looking at a picture on yahoo news <= this should be capitalized
of rep. <= also should be capitalized

Lauren Boebert screaming and **IT** got me thinking
isn't amazing how <= how amazing it is that
hate or love show's <= shows
on a person's face. No matter how they try to hide the fact that they are a mean and hateful person. <= this is a fragment

I mean <= omit

It has always fascinated me how a person can't hide their true nature.

Simply because no matter how they try to deny it. <= this is a fragment

The human face will show a person's true nature [I think] <= we already know it is what you think, so this is redundant, lol

At least that's what I learned from my experience. <= what experiences? This is what the reader wants to hear about.

And don't forget to throw in some paragraph breaks.

A lot more is needed here to make this of interest of the reader! May I suggest the show "Lie to Me" (3 seasons, on Prime). It goes into great detail about what you are talking about here. Let me know if you edit this!

Best,

True, so true. What you feel on the inside will eventually be revealed on the outside. One only needs to take the blinders off their eyes and look at the lying face that swears that only he can do something that he has never, ever shown an ability or willingness to do in the past. Fooled ones trust and believe him and wind up either dead, in hospital or in jail, wondering how in the heck did I get here and will he get me out of this mess I find myself in. The short answer is of course, NO!

I agree with you about this. If it does show in the words and the expression, it shows in the eyes.
I think the 'or love' should be erased. It confuses things. Because you are just talking about hate. I think there should be a comma between mean and It and It shouldn't be capitalized. And a comma should be after simply and after deny it and the shouldn't be capitalized.
Keep writnig and stay healthy
