Hello Liz,
I'm glad the doo-doo wasn't of a too serious kind, deep though it might be. Of course I'm not affected by it, so I can say that. I think I've mentioned before that I could never be an editor. I usually write like I talk, hence I get a lot of suggestions about what to correct. Actually, I should amend what I just said. I actually write better than I speak because I can go back and correct things before I print them. Still lots of mistakes, but I don't want to people to know the full extent of my ignorance.

Best wishes on your brand-new adventure. I interned as a copy editor for a local Baltimore newspaper. I performed grammar, punctuation, and content editing. I quickly decided I liked content editing better. Very interesting article you've written.

for me, any new online venture seems to have its 'SNAFU' stamped firmly on the navigational side of it. I'm not versed in the editing world, so no knowledgeable comment coming my way for any of those concerns. I'd be horrified to have my work, overworked and riddled with someone else's format. I was very excited when the first one was accepted, and I was well paid. But there was one grammar issue with every submission and I was never consulted before they were published. The error was theirs, not mine. They had edited my version. The last one, they added a run-on- sentence, and included the same incorrect grammar error. Good thing it paid very well, but I was ashamed to have my name on it.

It seems there are too many irregularities in this publishing site. Why publish something known to have mistakes--esp if your name is attached? Sorry for the health issues, but still rules are rules. I hope things improve for you. Liz.

Good luck in your new adventure. During my career, I did a lot of editing. It was usually to clean up proposals and bids. Occasionally, I try to help writers use more active voice in writing, but I stop at that. I don't even like going that far.

I don't understand the world of editing, but it seems you're holding your own there. Don't give up. Editing, I think, is an individual thing, and I don't think it's fair for one to tear apart a piece because of their own particular style. It seems to me that commas are the problem, for one. Hang in there. You will overcome.

This sounds like a sticky situation, but I am positive you will make it through. I can't believe anything else. Editing is very difficult because there are really no clear cut rules in many areas.

Fingers crossed as to my venture. Given that we have so few submissions, I guess you and I should just keep submitting our work--if those two leave, we can publish several per day and hope that the quality of our work will inspire others to submit to such an esteemed publication.
