LOL I do understand. My husband doesn't like the new vehicles because of all the new fangled things on it, to include the automatic windows; just something else that can go wrong. LOL He prefers a vehicle you don't need a computer to find out what's wrong. Thank you for sharing.

Barbara, smiling back! Thanks for the review, I do recognize your husband's feeling the lack of "do it yourself" options with these fangled computer chip laden automobiles.

I like the picture. You don't see this type of cars on the street.
The easiest way to see one is to watch old movies. I like old movies. They have good love stories. Today's movies are full of violence.
Similarly, I miss the old cars. You are right, it is hard to find one who can fix an old car.
Thanks for sharing this poem.

Choose wisely. With a possession so highly valued and treasured, you must not allow some untrained, uncaring heavy handed fool to even come near. You must preform due diligence in order to find the perfect candidate. If he has no dirt underneath his fingernails, he may be a pretender. Be careful.

When I went to school they had courses like woodshop, cooking sewing, ROTC, swim class, drivers ed, band practice, etc. Today, high school grads are lucky if they can read and fill out a job allocation. Thanks for posting this important issue.

I owned a 66 box Nova when I was 18. I changed the intake to have two carbs on it. That thing would scat. I wished I never sold it. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Excellent entry for the Free Verse Poem contest. I taught business administration at a vocational school for adults with employment barriers. It was a rewarding job.
Well done!

A humorous take on a serious issue of vanishing skills in today's world acquired through love for one's work. I like the perspective and the way the free verse poetry flows. Well done!

Very ponderous beginning followed by a humorous issue of practical importance. Who indeed? To be honest, I think most young guys who like tinkering with cars would be okay with it. Fun poem, and well written.

You make a good point here as these old skills are lost with today's lack of experience, and the young are pursuing other modern trades. A fun post, love Dolly x

Hello JLR,
I generally like the poems which have some sort of rhyming scheme and not Free Verse, but this poem is something different having enchanting Non-Stop flow throughout from the beginning to the end.
Moreover, you have raised an EXCELLENT Question and this you have beautifully presented as your unresolved issue:
"My unresolved issue is then a question!..."
Marvelous!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.
