Liz,
I live in a tiny little historic town like you see on TV- you know, the old Main Street with vintage stores down both sides, RR tracks at the end with the original old depot, and tons of antique and specialty stores filling up all the spaces they can find.
A new business opened just on one of the corners.
Just beyond the bumpity-bump tracks, and right when you come into town off the Interstate -this building was the first you saw from that direction and maybe(?) set the tone for what to expect.
It was a tres chic boutique called 'Polka Dots' and the entire building had been painted bright pink.
The older generation here thought it was grounds for hanging. The new ones loved it. People clapped. People screamed. But it sure was a conversation topic!
Thanks!!

The colors are as I described--otherwise, I had to fabricate the details; regardless, the story I was told may not even be true. I like the house--my own has four colors, but nothing like those!
Love you story!

While this is fiction, Liz, I can see it happening for real. I enjoyed reading your little story. You did a great job explaining why their house wore the colors it did. We have a house on a major intersection that is of smooth stone with a stone fence. The trim is nauseating green and the main color elsewhere is pink. It's known as the Pepto Bismol house and has been for many, many years.
Respectfully, Jan

Lol. Well that put all the complainers back into their identical little boxes. Maybe that house will become a draw card, and be a small claim to fame for their conservative area!

A few years ago, our small town had a property owner that decided to do the same here. One brick building had 10 different colors on the same wall. There was no particular pattern. It was "paint by closed eyes." He sold the building and the colors are gone.

Anything can be used for revenge. This is a good picture. Once saw a raspberry purple house and wondered about why. Perhaps . . .
The flow is good. The images are fun, if startling. The humor is well written. The ending is the perfect punch line.
Thanks for sharing. A good read.

At my age it is nice to be seen. Enjoyed reviewing this piece. Keep writing.

I will!

Another clever post by the master of clever and unexpected endings. Almost a fairytale-like story. The house kind of sounds interesting to me, but then again, I don't have to live near it.

Haha. Interesting. Is that what it takes for him to do it? Then it becomes a landmark. I think he just wanted to be noticed. Sometimes a rundown house gets noticed more.
Well done.

Very enjoyable. I love how the owner stuck it to his stuck-up neighbors.
They were expecting conformity and he did paint his house to his own satisfaction with electric lavender. Perfect.
I do not think I would mind such a house near me, it certainly would slow the traffic down.
Best wishes,
Mary
