Well, I can certainly sympathize with them. Several years ago we were driving to WV and trying to avoid the big cities such as NYC. We took the wrong exit and it led us right into NYC and we had a time finding out way back to the interstate in the direction we wanted. I can't imagine if we had been driving on the right side of the car and in a different direction, too.

Thank you for your enthusiastic review. What a nightmare, driving right into NYC. Unknown areas certainly can be stressful. I had clear direction how to get to my friends in Brooklyn. The problem was the name of my chosemn road was on the other side of the underpass, so unless you l knew that, you would never find that street. I drove looking for the name & of course, it was raining. I called (payphone)my friend & told her the name of the street I'd come to & she said I needed to get out of there immediately. So I turned around & some how I found my way back to the road I originally needed.

You are welcome. I really hate driving someplace I haven't been before especially when it isn't well marked.

Wow, this was interesting Liz. I am really enjoyed the adventures of Madeline and Cordelia. Poor Cordelia definitely should not a navigator, I am sorry but she couldn't read 'Up from Down', lol. Oh the poor guys never did get their meal as promised, bad flying weather took care of that. Very well done and greatly enjoyed, I look forward to the next continuation chapter.

Thank you for your endearing review. I'm glad you are enjoying this. Much of this is based on fact. It was horrible, fortunately wasn't driving, but feeling quite helpless. There is only one part of this whole story that did not happen when 3 of us went to England.

I like the concept of this story, Liz. It has something of the flavor of the last novel: two girls on their own getting into one trouble and out of it and into another.

Here are some notes of what I read:

With Madeline as the narrator we are following her and her harpist friend, Cordelia. Cordelia has invited Madeline to accompany her to where she is having her harp therapist course. [Why do you have the same thing in this paragraph that you have in the preceding one? I don't believe that's what you intended.]

I noticed there is a lot of digression going on in the narrative. A little of it is good. It adds to the warmth of the narrator's voice. Occasionally it goes overboard, like when you mentioned getting lost driving in the rain: "I do not like driving in the rain. I got terribly lost driving by myself in New York, headed for Brooklyn. My friend Marty said I was in an area where I could have gotten my face ripped off." You digressed from England to New York, then to a friend, Marty. It just got very complicated.

Overall, though, I enjoyed today's adventure, and the broader concept of the narrator following a friend who uses her harp in a most mysterious fashion. I think there'll be some magic ahead.

Thank you for your involved review. The first paragraph was supposed to be separate from the rest. Readers here want a little introduction. So we do risk repetition. The deviation contributes to the understanding the personality of the characters. There will be more to come.

It sounds like they had a typical trip and then discovered they couldn't read a map or drive on the wrong side of the road. That's pretty much the way it went for us. When travelling a sense of humor helps, although smelling their meals burning up would be disaster to me. Your story was well edited and very interesting.

Ok...so those girls are braver than I am! The scenario of different driving rules, steering wheels, in the rain, not knowing where you are going in the dark...reminds me of those stories my mom used to tell... We had to walk to school, miles and miles, in the dark, in the snow, barefoot,lol...
I hope they get where they need to go without any mishaps, but somehow I think there will be some! You have me intrigued!

This is a fun chapter to read, Liz. I know how scary and frustrating it must have been at the time, but in the telling it's quite humourous. I'll be waiting to see how long it took them to reach their destination.
