A well written poem that clearly explains that we all have a universe of historical knowledge that we can relate to any situation, when creating a poem.

Very good with the rhyme, but the meter needs to be touched up a bit. An example would be the second line in the second stanza. If you leave out the word "off", things smooth out quite bit.
I must have been asleep when I first read this poem. The second line in the second stanza is fine.

I occasionally find that a rare smell can awaken memories for me.
This work nicely done. Good alliteration in parts, and a good use of the adjectives, steered by relevant verbs.
Poetry caters for all of these, including colours smells, memories and anything else where words can be attributed.
Such the power of words.
