I would wag my finger at presenting a story where the narrator does not remember the night before, however, I bet more than one person had the same experience to have to reel back the events of the night before.
Interesting story, leaving to wonder if she did return the truck. (I hope she remembers the night before.!)
Thanks for the read.
Take care

Experience well narrated by the story man, Bill. You left your readers imagining what had transpired in between before the truck disappeared as your wife did, and I guess it was well intended. Double tragedy I would call that experience.
I found the natural flow of the story very interesting making it look like a true story. Well done, dear Bill.

Dear Oscar,
Well, I hope that taught you a lesson, young man! Did you ever get your truck back?
Your wife left you? ...and left your son with the neighbors??? Wow! That's a welcome home event.
I like this line,
"She had been over-served and was trolling for a ride home."
Really enjoyed your story, Bill! Was it the truth, or fiction? In any case, it would have been a fabulous entry for a flash contest.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Kimbob

Thanks, Kimbob. I left out any part that made me look bad.

Haha...You were a part-time actor. The picture is its own pun. Cool technique! I hope you got your truck back. I thought stuff like this only happened in the movies. So sorry about the PTSD. I like how you separated the events as on a timeline. The large red print made it easy to read and it reminded me of a red carpet:)

Bill - This is a very well narrated two hundred word story. I wish it was longer because there are a plethora of unanswered questions. Color me curious - Jerry

It is not a very good look to wake up in a place you don't remember going to sleep in. If you get your vehicle back consider yourself very fortunate. If you have not been infected with a disease, also consider yourself lucky. If you do not become and unintended parent, you must also thank your lucky stars. If you have not become a favorite of a crazy stalker, you are fortunate as well. Have I frightened you yet?

You?ll have to get in a time machine and go back to frighten that guy. Where were you then?

Bill/Oscar,
Does the word 'idiot' mean anything in particular to you? I'm thinking you should perhaps consider using that instead as a fake name when you go to the bars and drink too much. It might be a bit more appropriate???
I'm waiting to hear the rest. Hurry!

What does "over-served" mean Bill? She was drunk? I'm not sure if I understand the rest of it here as it was completely lost on me. Perhaps this guy drinks to much and his PTSD has taken over his brain, love Dolly x

Over-served is a sort of wink and nod to putting the blame for being drunk on the bartender. I never considered that I had PTSD and relegated that complaint to pansies. However, years later, I believe I presented some of the symptoms. Unresolved anger leading to acting out was a biggy.
-
It takes a lot to admit you had PTSD and I understand that as a man you wanted to be strong and brave. That is a clever saying: ?over-served? and I shall remember it and blame the bartender if I drink too much! Ha ha ha, thank you for the explanation Bill, have a great day, love Dolly x

Not sure if this one qualifies for a date sounds more like robbery. So sorry to hear about the PTSD from war and from home. I hope your son recovered from the abandonment. You seem to have recovered well with a great new family.

My son ended up living with my wife's parents for a couple years until his mother reclaimed him and took him to New York.

Hope she turned out to be better at mothering later.
