As I say, and as you've heard your whole life . . . F-H-I-S-C-T-A-JOKE. But, it might make for a short online writing engagement. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

F#(k Him If Somebody Can't Take A Joke?
So true--can't please everyone! My fans get my humor--perhaps some readers there would be amused once they got used to my style--but that's moot, because stories such as this wouldn't be accepted to the publication!
I get the best of both worlds here and there--they do take most of my humor pieces as written--indeed, the stickler editor loved one with the swear words.

Sadly, it comes down to the fact that it's usually people's perception that's broke, not the writing. I get so frustrated when intelligent, talented and accomplished reviewers don't understand a word I'm trying to say, or how I'm saying it. But since most of what I write is foolishness and written in a way to embellish the oddball characters, I realize it takes a special type to pick up on the idiosyncrasies. With your writing, outstanding as it is, I would just call the naysayers dull of understanding. LOL. I enjoy every post! And it has nothing to do with the fact that I like you.

Ha,Ha,Ha, oh Liz- I love your sense of humor. It must be trying to have to keep off the paper what you really mean and make it acceptable. You're too much gal. Keep up the good work.
Have a blessed evening.

The only drawback to writing for your fan club members, who love your uniqueness is new people are constantly joining and haven't learned you rhumorous quirks. Therefore you are apt to get a few four star reviews.

You're too funny, Liz... even when you're sick.
I love to read your work because there's always humor, and humor is so important these Covid-Schmovid days. I enjoy your "wise-assed, ill-advised, half-witted" comments. I watch for your use of sardonic quotation marks, punny wordplay, superfluous parentheticals, cross-outs, and vulgar language. It makes your work special. It always calls to me. And I especially like the stories involving your boyfriends, Chuck and Scotty.
Keep up the good work. May your writing carry you through these days of isolation.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Sounds to me like you are better off here on FanStory where you and your stories are always loved and appreciated, Liz. Maybe you should try entering contests again, to possible gain a bit of cash.

Liz,
You can make even a rant an amusing and fun read. Actually, I think the "real" world can handle sarcasm, tongue-in-cheek, and vulgar language, etc. I picture your editor standing in a uniform, heavy boots and whip in hand ready to strike when you add or forget a comma.
Best wishes,
Mary

OMG - you are such a hoot!! I am glad you mentioned there is a world outside Fan Story...I have to be here so much, I have gone blind to the path out. I wish you the best in the "real" world, but I love and adore the Liz you are here. What is so wrong with crazy - for years I thought it was my given name!

Hi Liz,
very funny and written with a dry humour and wit.
The art of creative writing can be about pretty much anything, and done by the many, but the art of entertaining the reader... well that takes the 'wordsmith'.
Thanks for sharing... and thank you for the smile I constantly have on my face because of your writing.
With our thoughts we create...
the art of communicating.
Kind regards,
James.

Liz,
And that's kind of a shame. I've learned how to express myself here in ways that I can't when I submit to 'real' places. I have to consciously REMIND myself when I step outside the bubble that I am leaving the safe zone. *smile* Thanks for the smile!
