This poem is beautiful in its simplicity. There is something so beautiful about the simple, but dramatic. Your words set the soft scene, then a crow breaks it. The contrasting colors are perfect. Great writing!

Just love the thought of the crows breaking the silence of the Dawn, it paints a definitive mind imagery of the conditions on a cold morning, lots of winter poems at the moment, while we write on spring, well done, blessings Roy

What a wonderful way to express in a few words and create an imagery of a cold morning. I love the satori. Thanks for sharing. This should inspire all haiku lovers!:)

Wish I had a 6 left - this just moved into my soul and planted itself. Your artwork is stunning - I love stark simplicity and nature themes. Your verse is great and you paint a picture that enraptures me. I love birds, murders of crows or ravens...and early mornings before the intrusion of humanity...

Been trying to grow Blueberries for the past couple of years, only get a handful off of each small plant each year. Crows are not too common in NZ, Magpies though, Yeah, we have way too many of them.
You paint a bitter cold winter picture with silence being broken by the the early morning call of the crow. Lucky for us here in NZ, summer is on its way : ))

It is, as you know, rare I give sixes to short poems unless exceptional in both imagery and the soul of the poem is found, regardless of size.
This a fine presentation.
The two ideas or imagery are potent which highlights the contrasts well. The satori is then brought into its own by the suprise element of that potent imagery it commands.
A very well presented Haiku.
Best wishes.

Hello Gypsy, I'm back, and I'm so glad to see that you are still on FS. I enjoyed reading your haiku. Good syllable count and imagery. Vivid satori line. A pleasure to read. I could close my eyes and see it. Thank you for your author's notes. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

I love the picture done by nina. The poem equates the cold morning with a silence that is suddenly broken by the crow. For me the crow can signify the stirring of life in the cold or connote death within the natural setting.

Comment from Wendy G
The first two lines express stark coldness and suggest silence, so the third line is a striking contrast to the peaceful scene ... and one wonders if the berries will even remain. Well written, very thoughtfully composed.
