Hello! I came by for a visit of some children's poetry. Writing poetry and stories in rhyme for children is my dream. I've written quite a few along the way and maybe just one day I might get something published. I've been on Fanstory for just two weeks and finding my feet but I haven't posted much in the way of my children's poetry or stories as I didn't know how they would be received. So here I am checking out other works! I loved this delightful story and easy flow rhyme. Timmy and Tommy are adorable and the telling of the Christmas story through their eyes is sweet. Thanks for the read and inspiring me to pop some of mine up.. in the not too distant future.

Hi Karyn, welcome to Fanstory! It's nice to have another children's author on here. I've written loads, and through the lovely, helpful reviews I've a few published. I'll wait and have a read of yours when you post. I've written them in prose and rhyme. My latest was a poem story with pictures to colour. It's such fun. Enjoy your writing, and have fun. Thank you so much for the nice review of mine. Warm hugs, Sandra

Hi Sandra, This of course is an older post but the story is still fresh and new as is every story about Christmas and the Baby Jesus. I found myself reading then jumped right in to making myself a part of the story. I love that when it happens. . .and it's almost a must to be a successful pre-school teacher at story time. Absolutely delightful. :)

What a lovely review, Moongirl, (What is your name?) I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Timmy and Tommy mouse feature in many of my older childrens books. I had a lot of fun with them. I thought it was a good idea to give the children another side to the Christmas Story. I've not done anything with this one yet. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. And thank you for the golden nugget!! Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

My name is Dee Hale, Ms Dee in the pre-school world and since I was born in July, I took on the name "moongirl writer". I love writing in rhyme, I love reading children's stories out loud in rhyme. I have a kind of melodic lyrical voice quality so my voice works really well for kids.
Not bursting any buttons here, this was just a gift God gave me. . .and it's fun to make books come alive for kids with my voice. :)

You are so lucky, my mouth dries up when I'm reading aloud now. I was invited to several schools to read some of my childrens poem-stories, and I really enjoyed doing that, then answering all the questions they had for me. But, my voice is not what it was, it's a bit croaky now!! Lol. I was also asked by a big department store, John Lewis, to read my first Christmas story, (The Night Before Christmas Eve) They took my photo and put it on a large poster to advertise I would be there to read it to the children. Talk about nervous!! Now I don't do it at all. My voice has gone due to too many asthma attacks. You should start doing that, you are used to teaching pre schoolers, so you'll have no trouble reading them a story. Libraries are another place to go and read to children. Go for it, for a start it will get your name out there. xx

I'm feeling like I'm one era short because I did pursue that for a while.
It is still something I would LOVE to do and I do think about it. There are so many people with read out loud programs on YouTube. . .some are good some, not so good. I used to go to my granddaughters primary school during Dr. Suess' week (she's now 16). I would read aloud to represent her class. Then one time when I was waiting, the lady next to me said she was there to hear someone read to the kids because she was told, they were just really great. I soon realized she was talking about me!!! Then I was really nervous! Before that. . .it was always just about the kids. Too funny.
In the US, they have library staff do a Children's story time. Still I could do a kind of volunteer program called "Grandma's visit" though and just see how many schools might be willing to let me come. . .especially when I will have my own books to read! That would make my day. Thinking, thinking, thinking. :)

Amazing! This is clever in every way possible. An enchanting back story to the birth of baby Jesus told by father mouse to his sons. I adored this piece and as a writer of children's rhymes, I'd love for you to critique: (Bronze oak in the corn) for me and tell me what you think and where I can improve. I applaud you on this piece of writing, Sandra.

Girl, this was so delightful! You told the story of Christ's birth through the eyes of the animals who were there. I loved it!
Why haven't you published all the shorts together as a book?
I'll help... after I get your illustrations to you! lol
LOVED it, loved it, loved it.
Blessings and chat soon,
Deb

Thank you so much, dear Debs! It came second in the contest, so I'm well pleased with that. I will publish another childrens book with these short stories, when I have a few more done. Now, I have just posted a prologue for my new novel. It is a bit on the sexy side, but the story isn't, it's more a mystery romance. The prologue is to get my heroine ready for what will be going on in her life. I hope you'll follow it with me. Love and hugs, dear friend, and a happy new year!! xxxx Sandra xx

I think you should have taken first place, having read her's, as well now. But ... Ah, what can we do... lol
I am stoked about your new novel and am heading over there now to read! And then to the workplace in my brain to complete your illustrations and those for the lady out of MIami. HHOPEfully I'll complete both by a week from today.
I tried to do a system restore on my computer and, instead, reloaded Windows. I lost all my apps, including paint.NET (my illustrating program) and my Office Suite. What a dunce! I'm hoping that when I reload it I will have all my work still tucked neatly away there. We'll see. But, if not, I know that much of it is here on FS, so that's not a total loss.
So off I go to read! I'm excited. 😁

Hi Sandra,
What a magical Christmassy tale for all the little children who hang on every word.
I have a very special granddaughter who would absolutely love this wonderful tale.
Beautifully crafted and with that special touch children truly love.

Nice bot of story telling. I can see it as an illustrated book for little ones. Bet it would do quite well as a holiday present. While not a fan of couplets, I think that for young children it is definitely the way to go.

AAAWWWW, this is too frigging cute. I loved every line of this poem/short story. I smiled from beginning to end. I can so see someone's grandparent reading this story to eager little ones. I found nothing to tweak or adjust. Well Written, Well Done.

I love this imaginative story, with lovely rhyme, and very cute characters. It is a different slant on Christmas but celebrates the real birth of Jesus, no Santa or reindeer in view. Very best wishes for success in the Christmas Poetry contest.
