Hello Senyai,
Nice piece of poetry having impressive phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting human life - Then and Now!.
4th stanza is particularly noteworthy.
Here, if you don't mind, 'Where' may be replaced by 'When.' I think so.
Good Luck in the contest.

This is a great entry for the rhyming poem contest, as well as the photo. I like that it leads the reader down the path of young love and reckless abandon to mellowing with age and gentle embraces. Patience and love over time - holding on to the fragrance of life. Nicely done. A reflective read. Best of luck in the competition and thank you for sharing.

A lovely, well-written and reflective poem, looking back at life, and the changing perspectives as one grows older. Very relevant! Beautiful presentation. I liked the information about the Goldenrod in the Author's Notes as well. Best wishes for your entry in the Rhyming Poem contest as well.
Wendy

This is an interesting poem about aging yet it uses a plant called "Goldenrod" as a metaphor. I found the poem was soothing instead of sad. I like quiet and peaceful life in the old age.

Well done.

    Hi Lisa,

Yes! Quiet and peaceful is good at any age:)) The "sinking in" wasn?t necessarily being 6 feet under but frolicking up to our ears in blooms by sinking playfully into them. Goldenrod are kind of a tall flower, LOl? Thanks for your insight as I indeed didn?t intend this poem to be sad.

Thank you, Lisa. You were spot on with your interpretation.

    All the best :))

I love your artwork, and though I prefer the city now, I love pictures of rural areas. They always make my heart in memories of my childhood home.

Where the sky was our limit, now our desire is subtle cuddles
Where our emotions were oceans, now are little muddle puddles [love these lines]

You did a good job with your rhyming contest entry, Senyai. I enjoyed reading it. I like the end rhymes and the touches of internal rhymes. Your well thought out words create great imagery of the times of youth compared to aged years. I like the positive ending that proves age is just a number. The image is beautiful, and your notes informative. Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

I may look a bit older but feel a lot younger in my spirit :)) I have one important aspect though, that I really need to improve on and that?s more exercise. Lol.

Thanks for your input, Jan as I am always glad to hear from you.

    Happy Friday, Jan :))

The passing of time has a way of bringing into perspective things that were cloudy and undetermined when we were children. Most of the things we thought were earth shattering in their supposed importance, are reduced to objects for laughter and ridicule through adult eyes able to clearly see. A soothing cup of tea with an old friend can make the shock of sudden realization much more palatable.

lovely photographs with this poetry. WE have goldenrod in Michigan too. One often sees vast fields of it growing. It is not the favorite flower for some farmers as it's tenacious and likes to grow in pastures and hayfields. I think they have more modern methods of controlling it than they used to. I just remember my father fighting with it back in the fifties. This is a nicely done poem and it should do well in the contest. Good luck

I don't think I've ever tasted Goldenrod tea and ever even knew that anyone drank it, but you sure have my curiosity up and its time to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ric,

Thanks for an enjoyable review and thoughts. I have heard goldenrod has quite a reputation for healing inflammation as well as tasting good as a tea. I think it has a spicy astringent flavor.

So appreciate your time to review and assess my work, Ric. Always so good to hear from you :))

Have a great Friday and coming weekend,
