Haha, well the dog has a valid point. I enjoyed your fun contest entry. You
Best wishes in the contest.
You gave readers some good info and the ending was great. The art choice works well, too.
Respectfully, Jan

Thanks, Jan. It's a little tough to clean up the urine under the bed after the storm is over.

Ha ha ha you made me smile with this one, the first stanza is in perfect meter, the second lost its way a bit, but I still enjoyed the sentiments, love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly. Sorry about the meter. This was a last minute effort, dashed off in about ten minutes.

Thanks, Gypsy. You probably could have done this in three short lines.

LOL It seems the larger the dog the more they fear poems. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I've had a Great Dane, a Great Pyrenees, and a Labrador. All attempted to hid under the bed, but wouldn't fit, so just their heads were under. I've also had a Chihuahua, a Pomeranian, numerous mixes, and now a Dachshund and they aren't afraid. LOL Any way, I enjoyed reading.

Thanks, Barbara. The first sentence of your review has got me in stitches. I don't know if you meant the last word of the sentence, but it is great.

Hey Paul,
Love the premise, and I can just imagine a dog wondering what is going on with his owners with a storm's approach. Our "fuzzy friends" also hid under the couch whenever Mother Nature unleashed one of her classic northern Michigan blizzards.
Rhyme scheme is fine!
So ... about the syllabic count and "meter" ... kind of all over the place, eh?
See? Sometimes a writer just has to go with his heart and message... :)

Best Wishes,
diane

Thanks, Diane. Sorry about the meter. I'll speak to the dog about it. He has only been writing poems for about a year or so.

    Hah!
Well, ?this old dog? has been writing poetry for a long time, and she still maintains ?message over meter? unless in a required format like a sonnet.
    Write on, Paul!

Hello Paul.

This is a fun poem by the family dog. He understands where safety is under the bed. He is doing exactly what he believes will save him from the storm and ma and pa pray.

Good luck in the contest.

Robert

Thanks, Robert. Our buddy, Joe, is involved in quite a storm. I wonder if he is under the bed yet.

Hey Paul. The doggy didn't cause the storm he is hiding from. The storm Joe is in was made by Joe. He will be in the basement again this week. I hope Harris stays in France. She is going to help them fix their border. HAHAHA

This poem, A Dog's View of a Storm, shows the level of consciousness that the typical lap dog has for the tribulations in the world. Under the bed until dinner time is the best solution.

Just an observer. Many times our lab thought the coffee table was safe. She would be practically wearing it, of course.

Hi Paul,

Hahahaha! Yes, under the bed fixes everything! Mattress protects, dust bunnies are always nice and if I drag a bone under there I'll be happy for hours. The roof can blow off for all I care, but the bed, well the bed's gotta stay, lol.

Love your cute poem, Paul....and the drawing of the cocky headed pooch is perfect for your well penned words :))

Always,
Senyai

Thanks, Senyai. The dog is under the bed so much that the dust bunnies are pretty well mopped up in his shaggy coat.

Haha, I love the punch line saying that the dog will just hide under the bed and all will be alright! I do not see what this has to do with a farmhouse but I like the poem just the same.
This is brief and to the point which I love about these postings, thank you so much for brightening up my day!

This is a great farmhouse poem Paul. It is written very well. It is a little funny that the dog thinks the bed will protect him/her. Wish you the best in your future writing.

Yours Truly,
Joshua Law

Thanks, Josh. Didn't you learn, when a kid, that the safest place was either in bed or under the bed.

Or the long closet in your parents bedroom. Take care.
