I really enjoyed reading this verse about the passing of time and how there are so many of life stages that we all go through before we finish. Very aptly written. So well done, good luck in the contest.

Hello Melodie,
I'm just now getting around to reading this, but I see that you've hit on a popular subject. I like your view of life and wanting to have more time to enjoy it. I've reached an age where I don't know that I care to live a long, long time. Perhaps if my health were tip-top, but I guess I'm more of a pessimist. I've seen how life used to be, and if we lived in a time that was more like the sixties, I'd long for a longer life. As it is, though I'm not in any rush for the end, I suppose I could accept it when it comes. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings.
Tom

This is a beautiful poem, Melodie, encouraging people to make the most of their lives, and to be happy with their families and the people we love. Yes, why isn't there more time?
There will be plenty of time, in eternity. And so, we must live with eternity in view. There's a simple poem I remember:
"Only one life, will soon be past;
Only what's done for Christ will last."
And so we must live our lives in love and obedience to Christ, and store up our treasures in Heaven.
Your artwork is beautiful; it reminds me of a New Year's celebration. Yes, we should do what makes our souls happy, but as it says somewhere in the Bible (I'm not sure where), we should also "find out what pleases the Lord."
Those are the two greatest commandments; loving God completely, and our neighbor as ourselves. You have helping others well covered in your poem, and I love what you have in your Notes, about being grateful for every second we're alive! Yes, we need to remember that.
Thank you for sharing this lovely poem!

You're very welcome, Melodie. I have the reference to that Bible verse (plus context):
"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord."
Ephesians 5:8-10 NIV
I'm happy you enjoyed my review. Thank you for the blessings, my friend. May God bless you and your family, too!

Hello Melodie Michelle,
Nice piece of poetry having impressive phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting that we can make our life ACTUALLY worth living only by giving our services to make others happy.
The last stanza is particularly noteworthy.
The presentation is unique!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

Both poignant and uplifting. Plain words, powerfully spoken. Sounds like a plan! With your attitude, I think you underestimate your lifespan. I'll bet on 106, minimum.

I suspect we would all like more time. All I can tell you is my philosophy of life. " make the decision, live with it, and then be quiet about it." Whatever my successes and whatever my failures, they were my decisions. Going to Vietnam in February of 1967, I never thought I'd live to see the age of 20. I'm going to be 75 on June 2. I am amazed that I have been given so much time. Your poem speaks the truth for most people, but perhaps not for all. Best wishes.
