This is actually a true story of a relationship that started far apart but ended in a sixteen year marriage (so far!). By using "retract" I was meaning we would never be pulled apart.

Good

If I fantasize, I see a couple that met via on-line dating, the couple being literally miles apart. And then they met and "linked" immediately. The word RETRACT has a very negative connotation to me and spoils the romantic image you have created. I visualize a knife withdrawing from a wound.
