Vietnam did many things to many people... changing their lives, their minds, their thoughts on how life should or should not go on. Things happened that shouldn't have...people harbored their emotions, some talking about them and others remaining silent. You caught all the emotions and much more.

Hugs, Carol

Thank you so much for the great review, Carol. I sure am glad I wasn't around yet to see the horrors that went on there. I've heard some stories and they were not pretty at all. Have yourself a fantastic rest of your weekend.

This is really excellent writing, dear Joan. Congratulations on your win. It's nice to see something from the angle of the interpreter. They probably saw so much in their service, on the front lines in most cases. My brother Steve served three tours in Vietnam war as a Green Beret. He survived the war, but died of agent orange exposure related to cancer. I think of him every day.

Sending you my best today as always,
Sally XOs

So sorry to hear that, Sally. I heard many fell to that agent orange. I'm sure you miss him a lot. Thank you for the great review and congrats. I'm glad you liked the piece. I hope you have a wonderful night.

    Ron not Joan. Lol.

Congratulations on your win, Ron.
So much in war is brutal and pointless - the Vietnam War (called the American War in Vietnam itself) is a prime example. Your story's harsh brutality during the war, and the storyteller's later personal vendetta, underlines this. As they say - Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Thank you, Lisa. Yes, I'm sure it was horrific. I was in the army for a while but luckily throughout my life, I never had to see war first hand. Now I'm too old. Lol. I really appreciate the stars and congrats, L. I'm glad you liked this dark piece.

A story told with a degree of sangfroid, illustrating perhaps a very real aspect of war - the lingering emotions in its aftermath - a worthy winner for the contest

This work has reached the exceptional level

I don't think I have ever seen a set of instructions that spent so much time telling contestants what not to write.

So congratulations on finding something very original to write about and for failingvto state categorically which side the victims were on but then the VC didn't work in 'squads' did they?

Very cleverly done.

Lol. I couldn't tell you if they did or not. Thank you for the fantastic review and huge sixer, Pantygynt. Yes, there's a lot of rules, that's for sure. As always, I really appreciate the stop by, P. I'm glad you liked my little tale. Have yourself a great weekend and thank you again, friend.

A tale that starts with warm feelings and ends with retribution.

The story is well-paced. The language is appropriate to the subject. The flow is good.
The images are crisp. The ending is concisely done.

Suggestions:

You should read through this and make sure the paragraphs end where you want. It looks like some hard line changes have left words hanging.

Thanks for a good read.
