Wow pretty good!! I don't know the rules of a nonet well yet I was expecting the word around to have a rhyme. Then I thought to myself that it doesn't really matter!! This was still an excellent nonet!!
I hope you win the contest!!! If you don't well then you can go ahead and eat dead crow!!

I love the picture. The bird is lovely. The blue background gives a feeling of peace.

Wow! I love this. I live deep in the woods myself and the sound and calls of birdsong are some of the best and relaxing notes I can hear.

Just a couple of comments, if I may, and edits shown in ( ).
This piece may flow better if the start of the sentences
did not all start with a capital. Also, either use punctuation
throughout where necessary or don't use it at all.
I breathed cool(,) fresh air and looked around.
When I walked by the rippling brook(,)
(s)ongs I love to hear.
I looked up high(,)
(n)ot a cloud
(i)n the
(s)ky(...)
