As always, a great read. You never fail to deliver on the promise of an exciting read. It has good tension and excellent conflict from the very first line and fills the reader with anticipation of what will come next. This is shaping up to be an extraordinary story of a woman's quest for truth and justice in a chaotic world which seems determined to deprive her of her basic human right to life. I love it.

The chapter was gut-wrenching when Karsa found Agathe's spectacles after seeing from her distance the bodies being flung into the flames.
Then I saw the bodies laying in the street in a neat row, their arms tied behind their backs. [This is first-person narrative, so I'm reluctant to mention it, but the bodies would be LYING in the street.]

Your characterization is superb, of course, as sentences like this illustrate:
'There were no words in such pain.'
That's a simple sentence, but it speaks volumes.

Even though this piece is a segment of a story the author gives enough between lines information to inform the reader of the story's conflict and makes the characters real and believable. The emotional response by the reader to the characters is the strength of this story that sets it apart from other war stories. Attention to detail makes the reader become involved.
