I really like this haiku. Somehow the last line really delivers. Something about the last line of a Haiku is really crucial. It has an element of surprise. Your poem accomplishes this. Very nice work Val.

This poem is a succinct description of a pumpkin field. It also reminds us what we do with ripe pumpkins during the holiday season.

Is there any other color of pumpkins? Yes, I know there are but not the same as an orange one. Loved the last line "scarecrow watches". Nice touch.

Lovely photo. It tempts the reader to look for the scarecrow. Words more the adequately complement the photos. I have to get used to non-traditional Haiku. Ingrained in my brain 5-7-5, a season, etc.

I am a big haiku fan and find some failing the test. However, not in this case. I love the body of words...your form is perfect and you have tied it in with a lovely picture. This is one of the better ones I have read lately and I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for all of these lovely words. I agree with you haiku on this site pretty much "sucks" I can't even recognize the form. I could go on and on, but I will spare you.
