I loved your story. The ending gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful dog Honey must have been. I can imagine the boundless love and joy that existed between Charlotte and Honey. This story is one of your best. If only I had a six!

Thank you so much Mary. Your words made me very happy! Such a lovely review. Honey was a rescue dog who came to us at almost twelve years old, but she had the most beautiful nature and walked like a grand old lady. Mostly Golden Labrador.

Superb! Your post deserves a six but alas I do not have one. I was drawn in immediately, thinking about how my five grandchildren will remember this time spent living with me. But your punch line laced with Honey was more than adorable. As a dog lover, I couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Smiles and hugs, Carol

PS Not many smiles to share of late, but you always seem to stir one from me. Love ya!

Oh Carol - what an absolutely delightful review, and your words made me so happy (ten stars of happiness!). I appreciate you so much. I am amazed at what you are doing - and I am certain that the time your grandchildren spend with you will be a long-lasting blessing to each of them, and probably more than you will ever realise. Your sacrificial love, energy and time will not be unnoticed.
(Honey was a rescue dog (mostly Labrador) who came to us at nearly twelve, always very sweet-natured, and regal in her bearing.)

This is such a sweet story about Charlotte and Grandma Honey. Our pets love us just as much as we love them. The patience that some pets have for their humans is sometimes amazing. Our Pekinese has the patience of a saint. The little ones have pulled his tail and helped themselves to his dog dish when no one was looking and he just watches, licks their face to make them move over and share. When they no longer can lick your face and wag their tail, it's time to go to the Rainbow Bridge where they are happy and without pain and wait for us to catch up and we'll cross that bridge together into heaven. Good luck with the contest.

That was a great feel good story Wendy. All the way through my mind was creating images of a grandmother and her delightful granddaughter and the emotions were stirring knowing what was coming. Loved the ending Wendy, I did not see it coming so well done!

Thank you so much. I am glad the ending was a surprise. It was mutual love and respect for the two of them from day one. She was such a lovely dog, wise and gentle, very regal, very caring.

This is a neat little story for the fiction - Family story contest.
It leads the reader down a path of assumption, showing the attentive
love Charlotte and Grandma have for each other. It allowed for a sad
reminder that all good things come to an end. A lovely twist to find
that Grandma is the family pet dog. Very clever. A good read and
great entry. Best of luck in the competition.

Thank you, yes. We tend to make assumptions, so I am glad that you enjoyed the final twist. And a reminder to everyone that pets are valued family members too. I do appreciate your lovely review and good wishes.

Brilliant twist! I did not see that coming. Touching story of a tender relationship between old and grey grandma and child--then WOOF! Masterful misdirection!

I like the picture of the little girl. She looks happy and pretty. I am happy for her to find a gentle and loving grandma. It is so great to see them get along well and show tender and loving care.

It is sad to see grandma gone.

I like the surprise ending that grandma is a dog.

Thanks for sharing this story.

Interesting telling the story from a dog's perspective.

So true, even older dogs need good care.

In the second paragraph perhaps consider making "fitted" fit.

Thank you so much for your review. Much appreciated. It must be a cultural thing as in Australia we only use "fit" for present tense, but "fitted" for past tense. Interesting difference.
