This haiku, First Snow, presented with a 5-7-5 formatting, describes the former green world now chilled to crystalline by "winter's breath". Nice.

Great work there, dear Sally. I found the metaphor very creative. I love the beauty of snow though it does not snow in my part of the world. Sometimes I plan my vacation during this season and travel to where it snows so as to enjoy the feel of it. Well done, and lol!

There is no snowy winter in India. Maybe near Himalayas. But I have experienced bitter winter time living in Germay for sometime long ago. The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different. I enjoyed your short poem. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you so much for the lovely review of my poem. I used to live in upstate New York which had snow now I have no snow because I live in the tropics. I had to access my long-term memory on this one. I missed the change in seasons! So glad you enjoyed this and I really appreciate your kind words.
Sending along my very best to you and yours as always, Sally :))

This was a beautiful poem and I like it very much. The first snow is so perfectly described. I like winter and fresh, clean snow. I don't care for the ice, but I like winter. Good luck in the contest.

Ouch! here comes the cold season b-r-r 'leaves now frosted white' no mistake in those tell-tale signs that winter is gearing up - not my favorite time of year, especially all that darkness!!

Thank you, Sally!!! This makes a wonderful point!!
Although the winter's come there is still some life with a new breath to bring us together once again! The ominous tree with its frosted ling doesn't give it away!
The title also gives little to know how good this will go, I am glad I read it and chose to review it!
Have a chilly day, my friend!
Jesse

Gosh, I just love the photo. It's so haunting and beautiful.
It matches perfectly to this well written haiku. The satori
line reflects the scene of winter offering a good visual to
follow on from the two lines before it - remembering autumn.
Great job. Thank you for sharing.

Great description about how winter's breath has frosted all those autumn leaves white. Your haiku has seasonal reference and personification of the winter chill as "breath." Best wishes in the contest!

one of the reason I have seen White Christmas sooooo
many times....when winter comes..and the snow starts falling...you can catch me singing it every year...

it's about 31 degrees here now...and my oak tree outside the window is all rusty red...

So lovely, I like the first snow and the crunch under my feet but after Christmas, I always long for spring. We can't go down south unless we are double vaxxed so we stay in the frozen north. I wrote a poem so similar just before I saw yours about lavender. God Bless, Laura

Thank you for the beautiful review and stars, dear Laura. It is so appreciated. My family and I lived in upstate New York and we loved to go to beautiful Ontario. The gorgeous autumn foliage and pristine first snow live in my memory. I now live in the tropics. I had access my long-term memory for this one. :))
Sending along my very best to you and yours as always,
