What a wonderful jumbo jet trip. I am sure the scene is exciting and beautiful... the picture says a thousand words... breathtaking...
this reminds me of my Atlantic cruise many years ago... The icy scenes were beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

'Don't go there', is short, succinct and delightfully descriptive. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. Good luck with the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

Don't go there
Good entry for the Thank You Haiku contest.
It's a modern haiku. Classic haiku are about nature. Haiku about humans is called a Senryu. But you followed the rules of the contest fine.
If you want to improve your modern haiku, connect the lines grammatically. See example:
Breathtaking beauty
of white majestic icebergs -
cool Antarctica!

Thank you so much for reviewing and for your good advice. I am still learning about Haikus. I think this one only needs the structure 5-7-5, but it must include a salutation at either beginning or end, so although I like your clever last line I probably can only adjust the middle line. Thanks again.

I would love to go to the Antarctic - I envy your flight experience, described beautifully in your poem. I'm staying away for the very reasons you cite - human impact on fragile ecosystems (plus I wouldn't be able to afford the expensive flight!)

This is well done for the contest. Good luck in the contest. A couple years before my wife died she and her best friend got to explore Antarctica by boat. They thought it grand. And my roommate in college and long time good friend spent the "winter over" as the doctor at the naval station at McMurdo. So I have seen pictures and heard tales, and your Haiku does justice. Good job.

It is stunning and fascinating - but I agree - humans ruin - humans ruin everything that is beautiful or irreplaceable. I am a person who believes we should only see bites of a place and be banned from the rest. I worry so about elephants and manatees and koalas.

I have never flown over Antarctica but I've seen many documentaries and it looks like an amazing place. You were so fortunate to have seen it in such detail. Your poem is lovely and your artwork is a great addition to it. Good luck in the contest.
