What a lovely way to share your memories. You've done a wonderful job of mixing musical lyrics with commentary. What a talent to remember music the way you do, and further, to associate them with what was going on around you.

Thank you for sharing,
Rhonda

Thank you for sharing another of your favorite songs. I'm like you when I hear songs I've loved in the past it is alway like watching a rerun of the time in my life taking me back to where ai was when I first heard it. You are introducing me to some songs I have not heard before.

This is a great addition to - Sally's Jukebox Hits #36.
I listened to the song with a new insight into the meaning of the
lyrics and with a walk down memory lane. I had not heard the song
for MANY years. I really like that you have detailed why this
particular song is etched in to your music memory, as it is mine,
which I was not aware - until I read this piece and listen to the
song. Thank you for sharing in the memories.

I got the song, tho I was very young too. I know some of the more literal minded people didn't. They didn't get why some idiot would leave a cake out in the rain. It's hard to explain anything to those people. Thanks for posting the song. It was great to hear it again.

I was surrounded by the same idiots. I understood this at 13. It really makes me wonder why so many didn?t get this beautiful song. Sending you my best today as always,

Sally, I loved reading this. I was 18 when it came out. I have to admit, I never seriously listened to the lyrics. They are so tragically sad, yet at the same time persevering, despite regrets. Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Sally, you really manage to bring old and forgotten memories back with this one. It was totally buried somewhere in the recesses of my brain. Wow, you are amazing. Ulla:)))

Sally, I really like this song you've chosen. It more reminds me of times that have passed, ones that will never be recaptured. (That's just my humble take on the very sad song).
I've learned, though, that the future has its own memory to be made.
Great work, Sally.
Love and hugs,
Cindy

Hi, Sally, I hope you are well! I?m lagging behind as usual, and I find when I don?t connect with fanstory, I feel lost. Stay well, and continue to inspire.
    Love and hugs,

Thank you so much Cindy. I?m going in behind him as my sister and her husband are going through a really hard time right now. I just got back from Georgia to comfort her and her loss. Her husband is close to death and is in a coma now. The doctor says it?s not gonna be much longer. I?ve been trying to travel and do my postings but it?s been kind of hard and stressful. Blessings for your day and thanks again so much. Love you dear, Sally

I was a college senior and then first year law student in 1968. My best friend from high school, Bryce was to be my roommate in law school. But before he graduated from Notre Dame he was a Disc Jockey at a radio station in Texas, but also a DJ for Norte Dame radio. He loved McArthur Park. I ask why he liked it so much, he said "because I can put it on, go down the hall, get a drink, go the bathroom, call a girl and ask for a date, and then come back to the studio and it's still playing." Good Choice.

I didn't even know Richard Harris sang McAuthor Park. I only knew him as an actor. You did a wonderful job with your piece, and I didn't find any errors. Have a great day. Shirley

-Great artwork, Sal,
and good song choice;
I love this one; one
of my favorites.
-You did a good job
showing what you liked
and the meaning behind it.
-I was 18 in 1968 and
had the album; still do,
but on CD now!
-People always complain
about the cake in the rain
and the icing melting; it
all goes along with the
metaphor you explained so well.
