You've packed a lot of emotion into this "Ekphratisc Prose"-- Metaphorically speaking I know I've been there, longing for some peace in silence, craving time alone with my thoughts. How quickly dreams become nightmares! Karenina

We think we want something, but, sometimes, it turns out to be more than we bargained for. Thank you, Karenina.
-
Guilty as charged, for sure. There's a distinction between being alone and feeling lonely!

Very well done and greatly enjoyed, damommy. I loved how you twisted the truth slightly. I could only imagine how you wished away your life, indeed I would have to call for help.

I wouldn't like to be any place the seasons don't change. Other than that, with a few books and my pets, I think I could be happy. I don't know for how long. lol. Thanks, aryr.

You are so welcome, Yvonne. As much as I wish to be on an island, I don't think I would manage.

Yvonne,
Ouch! Since spring is my favorite season I really don't want to think of a universe where I'd get tired of it. YUCK! But I think this is a great response to the club challenge. I like the way you've used the boat, too! So sorry about the snafu with the image. Thanks!

Thank you. It's okay about the image, but I'd rather have used the one you provided. I really liked it. I'm not one for anything abstract.

I'm so glad you pointed out the issue to me - but I'm sorry I didn't get your message in time.

My favorite person and she now is my competition!! Really well-put-together story. My thought is the same as yours...be careful what you wish for. I imagine eternal spring and everything perfect would get tiresome after a while. It is the ups and downs that stir us.

Awww, you're so sweet. You're so right, we couldn't appreciate the highs without the lows.

Whoa! I hope this isn't true, my friend, I have come to love your humor on the profile thought page!
I read this eager to have a happy ending but when it didn't my heart sank a little inside!
It says this is Ekphrastic prose I didn't know that this contest was going on!
Take care, Yvonne, I care for you!

You're so kind. I'll try to do more funnies on the profile page just for you. Thanks for reviewing. Take care, dear friend.

I remember that saying, too, and I try to be mindful of it. It's a lot like the old fairy tales in which someone makes a wish and gets what the wished for but not what they actually wanted. Your narrator wanted peace and quiet and instead, got isolation. Very well done.

Wow Yvonne,
What a great story. It's something that would be right at home in The Twilight Zone. Back in Hoonah, at least once a year it seemed, someone would anchor their boat out because the tide was going out and then the boat would drift. It caused more than a few search and rescue missions when the person didn't return in a timely manner. This was so imaginative. Well done gal. Very enjoyable read.
Blessings.

Thank you. I appreciate this wonderful review. I imagine it's pretty scary when the boat drifts out and no one's in it!

Well, your wish came true, but was it only wishful thinking? You did a great job, Yvonne with the details, the setting, and the aforementioned wish. Now, what will you do--maybe think of a way to write SOS or make a raft? You know I'm kidding. But with all the time you now have to think. . . . Yes, be careful what one wishes for, right?
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thanks for reviewing. I don't know if anyone will be passing by this imagined island to see an SOS. 8-)

Haha, maybe a plane will fly over. ✈

After longing for an island where she could live in peace and quiet, away from life's worldly bustle. Unfortunately, it looks like she's now stranded on one, with no means of escape, apparently. Yes, you do have to be careful of what you wish for. Excellent take on "The Boat" challenge. judi

Thank you, Judi. What a compliment from a good writer like you.
-
You're very welcome. For me, it would be a vision of being stranded on an island with the in-laws and other relatives and all the dogs. judi
-
I hadn't thought of that. A bossy mother-in-law would be more than enough torture. lol
-
II'll have to write about houseboat trips with the in-laws sometime. judi
-
Oh, yes! Looking forward to it.
-
I'll see when I can get to that story. judi

It's so true, that saying, "be carful what you wish..." or colloquially speaking, what one prays for. That's one way of bearing, (unless one is a strong swimmer) when a boat drifts from its moorings.... Most imaginative Yvonne, sometimes an accident can lead us to our true destiny. Beautifully written my friend, well done, blessings Roy
Typo : broken from it(s) moorings
