A well-written description of life in both your under 10 poem Wendy and in your notes. We all do hope to keep much of our independence through older age, unfortunately, it doesn't always happen that way. Thought-provoking poem. cheers,

I find your 9-word poem a perfect entry for the contest as it feels complete ... words that can stand alone, having meaning for all time; easily understood. The poem was well thought out and creative. Your author notes were excellent as an accompaniment.

Wow, this is heavy! I didn't know what parabola meant until I read your author's notes. Now that I understand! I am happy to offer my review to you and even use one of my sixers to boot! My journey to independence and back was a long-drawn-out process taking years upon years of my life!
Suffice to say that it hasn't been easy and I still suffer from dependence once again!
I won't go into details because it is too early in the morning so I will just say thank you for posting this today!
Have a good day, my friend!

Thank you very much for your lovely review, very thoughtful. It is not easy to accept the processes of ageing or illness and so on, but it is all part of life. Have a good day too.

This is a frightening fact and I hate to think I will lose my independence as I love looking after myself and would dread being looked after, a fact of life here, love Dolly x

Yes, me too. I totally agree with you. But have had a number of friends recently who through cancer and other ill health have become more dependent on others than they would wish. It is scary. Many thanks for your thoughtful review.

This is a very interesting poem. When I first read it I didn't catch what the meaning, probably because I could remember what parabola meant and had to look it up! Of course, once I read your explanation, it made perfect sense. It's sort of like the riddle of the Sphinx: what crawls on four legs, then goes to two and from there, three. At least I believe it was the Sphinx although I know I muddled it a bit. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for taking the time to look up "parabola". It is really just a graph showing how we increase in our independence from being helpless as infants to fully dependent as adults - but then unfortunately it declines again as we age. Hopefully we have maximum time being independent and not too much need to depend on others towards the end of life.
    Thanks for reviewing. Appreciated.

Dependent or independent, what an excellent read in so few words, the questions you ask of the reader in your poem and notes are great, very well written and best wishes for your contest****kahpot

An interesting concept. A bunch said in few words. We do in fact track from dependence to dependence with a bit of independence between.

The poem reads well. With the picture it makes a conclusion and supports it. Good flow. Line break is at a good point.

I would make only one suggestion. Use smaller font to keep lines from wrapping.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and nice review. Will change the font size back again - some people ask for bigger because their eyesight isn't so good, so it's always a bit of a balance. Many thanks.

You are welcome. A word to people who need bigger print. On most computers control and scroll will increase or decrease font size. So they could read it and still have the main set up for the poem not have word wrap.
reply by the author on 24-Oct-2021
Yes that is true. I have changed it to smaller, and moved it to the far left so it won't wrap. On my PC it was fine, but I can see that it would wrap on a phone or ipad and maybe laptop, so thanks for reminding me of that.

Clever wordplay on "reflecting" with the literal reflection of the parabola. Hopefully we will soon have enough robot servants to keep our independence and keep the young whippersnappers in line, like Xi Jinping does

Nice job with the under ten competition. I had to look up what parabola meant, makes sense with the artwork with it. Very clever, I quite like it a lot.
