Most evocative. You describe pleasures that have been denied us for quite a while. I've travelled widely and often, and find much resonance in your descriptions. As you say, 'time and space seem to evaporate'.

Perhaps adjust the word order here for greater clarity: These planes can take us through this miracle of physics across oceans [Through this miracle of physics, these planes can take us across oceans]

This is beautifully written. You've captured all of the excitement, the sights, the sounds and the emotions that I feel every time I travel, although these days it's a little more disconcerting. You've re-awakened my desire to travel.
One thing: "You don't know from what kind of home they've come (from) or..." - this from is redundant.

Oh yes, I've travelled to Asia, the Middle East, Europe, United Kingdom the islands of the pacific, al through Eastern Europe, to Moscow, St. Petersburg, travelled to the US, and when the curtain goes up again, we'll be off, beautifully written my friend, looking forward, sigh. Blessings Roy

Thank you for sharing this post with us and the celebration of air travel. Right now I am planning a trip in February to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. Flying makes that doable.

In the first line, I have only been to the Grand Canyon and Maui. I 'm planning to go to Machu Pichu this winter but not sure it will work out due to Covid19. We traveled only domestically this year, five national parks in Utah and Branson for a memorial and family reunion. We skied in the northern Minnesota. Next year we are planning to go back to Italy and visit Greece, even Australia where my niece will be shooting a film.
I love travel. Thanks for writing this wonderful piece.

Maybe it becomes that way for someone like Ulla, but for me, who travels rarely, it is not that relaxing, and now it is even more uncertain since we are dealing with so many restrictions and cancelations. A few short years ago before 911, it seemed easier than now. I love the travel I've experienced. I've only been to Europe twice and to placeslike Canada, Alaska and Mexico or some of the Islands but it never been what I would call relaxing. I would say it was exciting and certainly worth the effort, and I appreciate the fact that I was able to do it at all.

Thanks for the excellent review and your words of support and perspective on the piece. It is true that travel is little by little becoming a big headache. First there were all the security protocols, having to take off half your clothes going through the scanners and all, and now there's the added coronavirus protocols you have to navigate. I don't know if I will fly again. estory
