These one liner poems can often be very cryptic, but I think I get this one. If something doesn't make any sense, then stewing over it isn't going to necessarily clarify it so throwing up you hands and saying, "It doesn't matter, anyway," may be the only solution. Oh well, I took a shot in the dark, anyway.
I'm not sure how one line can be considered a poem. It seems more like a proverb, adage or motto, but whatever. Good luck in the contest.

I'm not a fan of one-liners, because they are so often adages without poetic notes. But you have managed to create poetry with the excellent use of matters/matter. Great job.

Well, this is certainly true. I am yet to understand how one line can be considered a poem, but then I am still learning. For one line, you have done well.
