Hahaha, John, absolutely. It's really a very good one line poem. They are not easy to write,at all, and still making sense and a statement that will linger. It's a great entry and I wish you the best of luck. Ulla:)))

This makes sense to me. And I love your word play. Your line uses humor to make a very serious point. We need to stop using our energies up with trivial matters. And, we need to stop rationalizing crazy notions so that they make sense to us.

LOL This contest entry is filled with old fashioned common sense, which is hard to find now-a-days. It reminds me of some of Yogi Berra's sayings. I enjoyed reading and good luck.

"Matters only matter when they make sense."
Science make perfect sense even if we don't understand it ourselves... or it wouldn't "be" in existence. So there's that out of the way. Then matters of the heart or human psyche only matter to us if they have meaning.
So your statement is essentially true!

You have certainly created a one-liner that is thought-provoking. From different perspectives, not everything will make sense to everyone. So, in the end, if it does not make sense to me - it does not matter. It might make perfect sense to someone else. I'll just make myself a cup of tea and enjoy all that makes sense to me. That does look like a teapot from Alice in Wonderland...lol
