I shivered with goosebumps when I read this. How great are your words of love?
I see the picture so clearly and know they hold much love in their hearts for each other. I've been there and seen the heartache of sickness. The caregiving necessary to take our love through the day and night is a blessing.
I lived there once and took your haibun to heart.
Thanks for this lovely share.
My best always,
Marie

This is so beautiful and I am positive Ralf appreciates all the thoughtfulness and love behind it. It is especially sad when a FS member is ill. I think you have written a wonderful message for her. xoxo Janet

I love watching an older couple in love. Ones who've made it through 40+ years of marriage and you can still see the love. They are the ones that give me hope that my husband and I can make it that long. Gert and Stan always come to mind. We all need to feel this kind of love.

I like your first line, It sounds professional. Something people would post and share on facebook. It is poetic. Some readers will be comforted by this message, especially in the end.

Hi Sally,
I enjoyed your haibun very much. I heard about Ralf's illness, and I've been keeping her in my prayers.
I loved your story about how the husband who'd had a few heart attacks was lovingly caring for his bride. Well, we are the bride, aren't we? And God is taking care of us. He will also take care of Ralf. Why? ... because He loves us. And His love is sooo great, He even sent His Son to die on the cross for us. He's our Provider and our Deliverer.
"when shadows fall
and sickness comes calling...
remember, God holds you."
Nicely penned!
I think of a song by Dallas Holm, "He Is There".

With this...on my return, as I contemplate time here, as well time itself, it's hard to know whether to smile or cry, for it has such emotions , and they are of a reality that is with many everyday, and a reality, for some, yet to come. You have a way with expression that rings truth, rings life, rings the inner.
Well done.
My best wishes.

This haibun. The Gift of Life, has the correct set up and helps the reader witness God's love and His plan for us as loving couples played out in this splendid scene of surviving.
I am wondering if this is regional or needs an 's'. : )
and sickness (come) calling...

Thank you for the lovely review and suggested improvement. I just repaired it. Yes, it should read: when sickness comes calling.
Kind regards,
Sal :))

I feel like crying, tears of sadness for the ailing couple, and tears of joy for like you said, you have seen God. Seeing God as you see, brings hope and joy to me. Job was blessed many folds after his sufferings. Let us hope that the couple also were blessed many folds. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful amazing story, Kit.

Thank you for the tender response Kit, and the kind words. God can be seen in the ordinary displays of love and kindness. Married love is a special place and always good to see Him there. Sending you and yours my very best today and blessings in Christ,
Sally :))

This is Outstanding! The eloquence of the Haiben is sterling. Very comforting and inspirational. I struggle for words to thank you for such a 'caring' portrayal.
Love, Ralf

Aw, I am so pleased it blessed you. I love this unique poetry form and use it a lot. Since I am both prose and poetry, it suits me. I just hope you know how special you are today and everyday. Stay strong in your faith for it will carry you?He will carry you. You?re in my prayers and thoughts daily. Let me know if there is anything I can do. I wish you were closer, distance wise. My double fudge brownies have healing powers. ;))
Love and blessings,
