I really enjoyed your poem. It is thought-provoking and relatable. Your rhyming and meter were well thought out. The structure was flexible and the words flowed freely. Your offered an insightful glimpse inside the world of competition. Wonderful job!

The positive side of competition is this! To make our best effort and anticipate we may be recognized for it. That's healthy... I always fall back on the theory that the person I most need to "best"--is myself.
If I strive yo improve with each effort, I always feel a bit of success!

Your analysis of competition is interesting, and you make some really good points on how competition helps you in life...no participation trophies for you, and that's a good thing. Good luck in the contest. I think in the last line of the 3rd verse you to say "than" instead of "then". Good Job.

Your contest entry reads well, Mystery Author. There's good flow and good details. It's easy for readers to see that you enjoy competition. For some people, they thrive on it, and others take it too far. This sounds like you have it under control.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

As Wayne Gretzky said: You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
You never know unless you try. I always surprise myself and I celebrate every piece I write, win or lose.
Sending you my best today as always, and best regards for the upcoming contest,
Sally :))

This free verse on competition, To Compete, opens up the wonderful world of vying to be number one. The thrill of being recognized is like a shot in the arm of adrenaline.
